It isn't a palace. It is in a shabby building. The apartment itself needs repainted. There is an odd set-up with the apartment being divided into the Booking.com living area and an office said to be used by the owner during the day. However there is a note on the door saying that the door to the apartment must not be locked from the inside - in other words, overnight. I did feel as if someone entered the office part of the flat at 3am. Not nice for a single woman, with only a flimsy door separating the Booking.com living area from the office. Also several days before I was due to arrive, I requested to check in early. My emails were ignored. The Booking.com documentation gave me two different numbers to call on two different occasions. My calls were not answered. I was sent a third number but that did not work. These were all Italian numbers - +39. I was then telephoned on a +34 number (Spanish) by someone who claimed to be from a welcoming agency. I was concerned about all of this. I had to telephone Booking.com several times while they tried to work out what was going on. The "Spanish" number was not a genuine number because it had a digit missing. Booking.com told me this. They had been unable to get through to the numbers I had been given, and they told me they were going to cancel my booking and refund me. Eventually they did manage to contact someone and were satisfied that it was a genuine place and they did not refund me. My holiday was disrupted by having to have numerous calls with Booking.com and all the worry about what was going to happen. I should have been wiser and cancelled my booking when I began to feel uneasy, because I was outwith the 48 hour period and could have been fully refunded. I cannot recommend this place.

Great location, in the city center. Very clean apartment.

Location was brilliant, right in the centre. It was quite at night, no noise from the street or anything like that as it's on a side street. It's in a charming building. Nice kitchen with everything you need. The location is super convenient for the bus from Palermo airport. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The young lady who looked after the property was very helpful.

Francesco’s apartment provides the perfect starting point for exploring Palermo by foot – and is situated within walking distance to the three markets Vucciria, Capo and Ballaro, the historical arab neighbourhood La Kalsa, the beautiful cathedral and great places to grab a bite and a glass of Sicilian wine. Francesco was an incredibly generous host with a love for his city and gave a fantastic first introduction to Palermo.
