Lovely Old Riga studio

Big problem - where parking the car.

We booked an apartment for 4 days. We moved into the apartment at 01:00 am on October 28th. We left on October 28 at 10.00, i.e. in 9 hours. The reason for early departure is the outrageous condition of the apartments. Despite the fact that the owner had 5 hours for cleaning between check-in (11.00) and check-out (16.00), the necessary cleaning was not done. The stove is stained with sticky grease stains, and the appliances have food stains from previous occupants. In the kitchen cabinet there is a chaos of packaging, items of unknown purpose, and so on. The oilcloth on the table has greasy stains and crumbs of dark bread (or cake). The sponge and 1/2 of a rag for washing dishes (part of the rag was cut off by the owner to save money, probably) are old, previously used. The coffee maker cord is melted, which may cause an electric shock or fire. However, there is no smoke indicator. Or rather, there is a smoke indicator socket, but there is no part that reacts to smoke. The sheet on the bed has yellow stains, the bedspread has dark (greasy) stains. I note that the duvet cover and pillowcases are made of material that can be washed at temperatures up to 40’, so we were not sure of the standard washing temperature for the hotel. By the way, in the apartment there was a clothes dryer where clothes were dried after previous visitors. It felt like we had broken into someone’s personal space, rather than “a cozy apartment in the heart of old Riga.” The other blanket had a torn edge. There were crumpled pillows on the armchair and sofa. We had no hope that the sofa and its cushions had been vacuumed after the previous occupants. We did not find the “laptop safe” promised in the apartment advertisement. At the same time, the key to the apartment resembled the key to the inner door in the office. Unreliable and cheap. However, the loss of such a key costs guests 100 €. The owner sent a message about this after we paid for the reservation .

Located conveniently, can reach all landmarks by a short walk. Has all furniture and appliances for a comfortable stay.

Cleanliness can be better. The attic of the apartment next door is directly above this studio’s roof. Loud footsteps all through the night. Also the metal sheets outside are loud if it rains. Not suitable for light sleepers.

Great location in Old Town Riga, lots of places to see and restaurants around. The host was very responsive and assisted with an issue promptly. The curtain bed was a great touch to help us sleep in, and having access to TV to watch the FIBA Basketball Tournament was a treat. Easy to get in and out and felt secure. Wonderful local cafe right next door.

Did not smell good, and the limited space left laundry drying on a rack from the previous visit, which was unwelcoming. No iron was available.

Great location, very cosy, spacious studio

Almost everything. Location is perfect, clean floors. It was perfect flat for me and my kids. I would rate it 10, but...g

The most important thing for me in hotels (apartments) is clean and fresh bedding. The bedding stunk and it wasn't fresh at all. The smell was disgusting, I'm sorry. Pillows and quilt need replacing or at least washing if washable. I'm really sorry to say that but absolutely disgusting bedding. We took it all off and washed. Apart from that everything was perfect.
