The price is very affordable! The apartment has a small kitchen, bathroom/toilet, laundry, etc. We stayed 5 nights here and bought vegetables from the market to cook our meals.

Very friendly lady working with reception, cloth washing included in the price. Nice traditional tatami on floor.

The building is a bit run down and dirty, but the room was clean and proper.

They offer free bike rental, which is so helpful to get around the city. The mini appartements are perfectly set up with a kitchen, bathroom and nice bedroom.

The beds are not the most comfortable but they’re not at all bad.

No elevator and location is just close to Keneokuen and Castle.

The air conditioning worked well and kept the room a comfortable temperature during the hot Japanese summer. Window opens to a beautiful sunset view from top floor rooms, but is otherwise matted for privacy and curtains keep the room sufficiently dark when needed. Kitchen is relatively well equipped for light self-catering, with a clean spacious fridge, an electric single hob & kettle and some basic cutlery, however there is no microwave. The host, an open and welcoming older gentleman, was very accommodating and easy to communicate with in Japanese (I didn't try speaking English but there were helpful signs in English around the building). Location was only a 2 min walk from 7-Eleven in a quiet, pleasant neighbourhood with good access to the local bus network. I also really appreciated being able to use a bike freely!

The building is a little old which gives it a bit of a unkept feel and room cleaning had not been done to the highest of standards (kept finding hairs here and there) but it was good enough for the price. The walls were unfortunately very thin and one night I had to use ear plugs because there was a baby crying loudly in another part of the building, but this of course is not the host's fault, being quite a common feature of older buildings in crowded Japanese cities. If you go in with realistic expectations, it is all in all a good value for money budget stay in a nice part of Kanazawa city.
