Guest House Tatara

The washroom was outside the house so it is really difficult to use washroom in the night. You need to go all the way down and then go out which is really problematic.

Excellent stay at Tatara Guest House in Yasugi, Daniel the host was very helpful and informative with lots of helpful suggestions and advice. Much appreciated. Perfect for visiting the Adachi Museum & Gardens as well as visiting Matsue. Highly recommended.

Plenty of room. Nice quiet location in typical Japanese town neighbourhood. Very close to sea and pleasant walks. Bed was very comfortable. Free washing machine. Bikes free but we didn’t use them as we were there only one night. Owner very friendly

Toilet was outside and stairs were very steep going down from apartment to outside. Would not suit anyone with mobility issues.

It's very clean. The space is not too large but is not small. It's very comfortable.

The toilet is outside even it says it is a private toilet. It means you have to expose raining for toilet if it's raining. Fortunately there is a strong sensitive light that it is no problem when you go out at night.

The apartment seems to be in a renovated garage or warehouse with walls made of corrugated iron that have practically no thermic or sound isolation (even by Japanese standards). The mattresses were very uncomfortable. Those of the bunk beds in particular were very thin and felt rock hard (much worse than a futon on the floor, which we are used to). The layout is inconvenient as the genkan (hallway to take off one's shoes) divides the apartment in two. It was raining when we arrived so the genkan's floor was wet and we had to walk with our socks to pass from the main bedroom to the kitchen, shower room or second bedroom. We knew that the toilet was outside, but didn't know that we had to go down a very steep staircase to exit the apartment, which is rather dangerous if one has to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. If you want to pay by card for the stay it costs an additional 4%, which I find completely ludicrous in 2023.

Yasugi is a very nice little town perfect to reach the adachi museum. The guesthouse is located in a Japanese neighborhood. All you needed was available. I clearly recommend this accommodation.
