Blue Bay 2 bedroom apartment

We were given contact details for the young lady who was to meet us and she gave clear details, including pictures of where we had to go. When we landed in Montenegro there was a massive storm system over the whole of East Europe so were able to keep her updated about our (very slow) progress. Having taken so long to travel from Podgorica airport we could not stop at a larger supermarket on the way to pick up provisions for the week, so ended up at the local shop which had enough to get us started. The view from the apartment balcony is stunning, overlooking some of the bay of Kotor. Whilst drinking a morning coffee we would watch the small tour boats race out and back and an occasional cruise ship negotiate its way to harbour. In the evening we would sit and listen to the cicadas and play with the local cats who tried to use the apartment as their own. The restaurants nearby in Prcanj are cosy and have to be tried, however we ended up driving to Kotor and eating in the BBQ Tanjga more than once and took a whole rotisserie chicken to eat at home. The kitchen is small I was able to cook up a fairly reasonable meal in the space with the equipment supplied. The storm system stayed with us for most of the week but for one day it cleared enough for us to go down the steep hill to the bay to lay on the strip of "sand" and bathe in the sea. There are a few larger beaches nearby but we did not get to try them. Other days it was not warm enough but we went to Kotor and even walked up to the fort (1350 steps). It was worth it for the spectacular views from the top. There were adequate bedding and towels for us in the apartment.

There were minor problems with the plumbing that it would pay the owner to fix. The hot tap could not be turned off completely and so we had to run the emersion every day to replace the lost hot water. The plug did not keep the water in the sink. And there was a lot of pipe noise at times in the middle bedroom, this is probably a consequence of being the bottom apartment of three but should still be noted. Due to filter issues the pool was not in use the first few days we were there. That said, it was fixed by the third day but as it was not that warm where it was positioned we did not get to use it but went down to the beach instead. Not really a like or dislike but just to note that the small road up to the apartment is very steep, 1st gear steep and extremely challenging if the road is wet. The picture attached shows the beginning and there are steeper sections.

The view is spectacular! Apartment is high up on the hill, about 200m climb which would not be suitable for anyone unfit or with a disability, could also be tricky with little kids. However the view is well worth the walk. The apartment is a nice size with 2 bathrooms. There is a dishwasher which was a nice surprise as it is not listed on the apartment facilities. There are lovely restaurants in the area.

There are a few things on the property listing that are not correct. There is no barbecue despite being shown in the photos. The second bedroom (ie the bedroom without the wrought iron frame) is not a photo of this apartment. The second bedroom has a very uncomfortable sleeper couch, certainly not the bed and side tables shown in the listing pictures. This was unfortunate as it meant our kids had a very uncomfortable 2 weeks of sleep. The kitchen is very small and not practical for preparing food. The kitchen also lacks some basics like a vegetable peeler, sharp knives, a decent sized cutting board etc and there is only 4 of most things which means you need to run the dishwasher more than once a day. The kitchen sink plug does not work so you can’t fill the sink with water to wash dishes. This apartment is great if you intend to eat out every night and not cook in much in the apartment. The bedding is tired and pillows very flat, when we asked the key holder for extra pillows we were told to look under the sleeper couch bed for some scatter cushions. This was not great. The shower did not drain and meant having to turn the shower off every 30 seconds to prevent it from flooding the bathroom. The basin drain in the other bathroom also did not drain well. When we told the key holder, she said the bathrooms are cleaned often, it could be hair and she hoped it didn’t create too much of a problem. We stayed for 2 weeks and not being able to have a decent shower was a big inconvenience, as such we went to the shops and bought drain cleaner to resolve the problem. The apartment has no beach towels which is good to know . The beaches close by are very limited and as such to make the time at the sea comfortable you would need a couple of beach chairs and umbrellas, which are not available at the apartment. I would suggest bringing those with you if you can but flying with them would be difficult.

Fantastic view over the bay! Great location for exploring the area. Nice apartment and helpful Office manager. Good wifi and AC.

The apartment is situated very high, so be aware of that, it is a tuff walk from the sea. Some problems with the drains.

The apartment was better than expected very clean and bright, spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen area is indeed tight, however fully equipped and you get a hang of it quickly. The view is breathtaking and terrace is very spacious! Overall amazing communication and support from the house manager and the host - Smilja made sure we get to the grocery store on time on Saturday night, as all of them are closed on Sunday. During ohr stay we booked a boat tour woth Rijo and they picked us up at Vila Marija, which was super convenient, as its right next to the apartment and there is no need to suffer the traffic while getting to Kotor. We also absolutely enjoyed the sweet and purry house guests, make sure you stock up the fridge with quality cat food!

Nothing, everything was exceptional. The road up to the house might feel a little bit steep, however only for the first time.

Fantastic location. Great views across the bay. Plenty of outdoor space to relax & a pool if it was warmer. Short walk to the local bakery & and shop at the bottom of the hill. Nice walk along the bay front looking at the old buildings and a small beach at the junction. There's a larger beach approx 15 mins walk away at the Hyatt Hotel. Clean, tidy accommodation & Smiljana, the property manager, was very helpful & a great host. Always happy to help with any questions. Nice quiet area. Handy having a washing machine.

Kitchen a little small as there wasn't really anywhere to prepare food, although you could use the table. Without Smiljana's directions, it's not the easiest place to find.

The apartment alone was amazing. Very specious, clean, air-conditioned, with nice big terrace and a magnificent view over the bay. We had everything we needed. The beds in the master bedroom were comfortable. The other bed in another room is a couch sofa, which has been converted for sleeping purposes. Both rooms were specious, and we loved to have two bathrooms, one with a bath and a washing machine - and the other one with shower.

Well, there are several problems with the owner's description in the announcement on the booking.com. The apartment is not located on the beach directly and has no private beach at all. To reach the closest public beach you must walk 5-7 minutes short but very, very steeply hill-path, s. the photos. I unfortunately struggled every time to walk up the hill because of my slight sport injury. I wish I knew this before; in this case I would look for another accommodation that suits me and my knee condition better. Even my kids and my husband complained about this, but unfortunately it was too late to change the reservation without further costs. And believe me, you don’t even want to drive every day that narrow steeply hill. It was stressful every time when another car approached us, and we needed to drive to the side or backwards. The owner promised to offer us an excursion to the Blue Bay as an apology, but when I contact her again to inform her that we decided to stay in the apartment and that we accept her offer, she just sends me a random local excursion agency link from the internet. There are also no two pools in the accommodation as announced. The one pool that is in the building can’t be reached from the apartment directly and it’s obviously not a private pool. It’s located between two buildings and all guests from the building complex / several apartments with different owners can use it. It takes only few steps to reach it, but it’s not your private pool as mentioned in the announcement. The bbq-grill from the description photos can’t unfortunately be used, because of security reasons. You must bring cash with you to pay for the apartment the same day or day after you arrive (it's not like with hotel stay, that you pay with check out). Lot of mosquitos in the evening on the terrace, but you can grab some products from the local store that keeps them away. And finally, there is a problem with tab water in summer.

everything in the house was perfect and very well thought through.

appliances in the kitchen were challenging to operate especially the stove. I would suggest leaving a quick guide on how to operate such things. I've never seen such, not user-friendly appliances in my life.
