Very enthusiastic host who can help plan if needed (only speaks Japanese though) Very close to station. Complete apartment including kotatsu, tatami floor, kitchen, bathroom and PJs Not very touristy, but still no lack of restaurants etc.

Area behind the train station (where the stay is) is less pretty than the front Most people want to go to western Nikko, which is still about 1-2 hours from the stay.

We got the room no 101 which is better than the photos. A clean Japanese-styled apartment, not a big one but has complete facilities. It’s only 5 min on foot from the train station (by overpass). Please dont follow Google maps navigation, otherwise you’ll take a further path (12 mins walking).

We came late at 8pm and had to wait for like 10 mins before the “uncle” opened the door. Previously, we were told to open the room no 102 when we arrived but it was locked. Turned out we got room no 101 which had been unlocked. The uncle was very friendly. He showed us all the facilites and then he spent like 1 hour on the kotatsu, talking to us in Japanese (eventhough we didn’t really understand the language…) He even told us the shortest way to the station.
