Bois Mapou Self Catering Apartments Unit 101

Bois Mapou Unit 101 lived up to its description: this is not a luxury getaway, but a very solid, well-priced apartment in the centre of Black River. It's within easy walking distance of La Preneuse Public Beach, a major supermarket and several excellent restaurants. Melissa, our host, was attentive at all times. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom surprisingly big, and the kitchen reasonably well appointed.

The unit's sleeper couch in the main living room is very uncomfortable to sit on, if used as a couch. I think the unit needs a couple of basic armchairs, which could also be taken outside onto the lawn. Also be aware that the neighbouring property has a barking dog problem, especially in the early morning. Mauritius has a lot of dogs, many of them strays, and dogs bark. This one is not a stray and it was quite an irritation.
