Bealey Avenue Apartment, 2 Bedroom apartment, Central City

Very well set up, close to central Christchurch, (15 minute walk) and local facilities .Clean spacious with off road parking. Can thoroughly recommend

It was very clean and spacious, very close to the city centre which made it a perfect base for travel. There were great kitchen and laundry facilities, which made the stay very comfortable.

The property was at the top of a few flights of stairs. Personally we did not have too much luggage, so it wasn't a big issue, but it may not be suitable for those more elderly or travelling with more luggage.

Great apartment, large enough for the 3 adults without crowding. Clean well laid out well equipped. Air conditioning

It faces due west and has a large amount of glass walls on that side. This made it very hot late in the afternoon and we had to shut the curtains to keep the heat down which made the living area very dark. This is probably an asset in winter but when we entered the apartment on a moderately warm afternoon it was at least 10 degrees hotter inside.

We liked the easy access to the unit with no worries about keys . Even though we didn’t use the second bedroom it gave us room to spread out our belongings which was great especially after a trip of long duration. The kitchen was well equipped( except for a can opener ! ) the furnishing was comfortable and clean . The location was good - we could easily walk into Christchurch or walk the other direction to a Fresh Choice supermarket.The combined washing machine /dryer was easy to use ( directions were included ) but they had thoughtfully provided an airing rack if you didn’t want clothes in the dryer.

Carrying heavy luggage up those external stairs may be a problem but this was explained . As an Australian we have found the near total absence of insect screens on windows perplexing . Although the unit being at the back of the block helped shield road noise , along with the double glazed windows , in summer this unit would be hot and with windows open it would be hot and noisy. Perhaps the installation of air conditioning would solve those issues. When we arrived late in the afternoon the west sun beating in many of the windows made the unit unbearably hot. Over the days of our stay we learnt to close blinds and curtains as we were leaving in the morning to shield the unit from the afternoon sun.

Very private. Comfortable. With 2 kids ages 12 and 10.

No elevator. Hard specially if you have huge bags and heavy to carry.

Well equipped. Good size. Door lock combination, so not having to worry about keys or lock boxes etc.

Bealey Ave is very noisy. Heaps of 'racers' and police sirens at night. I didn't notice until arrival there was no air-conditioning. Would be insufferable in warmer weather. Even in early Oct it was stuffy and very warm when returning after being out all day. Very warm sleeping, can't open windows because of noisy Bealey Ave traffic. Some fans would be useful.
