East Rock - Cosy Guesthouse in Kelvin Heights

This is a lovely modern unit with everything we needed for our stay, I would definitely recommend.

Anna and her dad were delightful people and we had no problems getting access to the studio. Location was great for our purposes. Just 40m beyond the studio, you could access a trail that wrapped itself around the golf course, giving vistas of the mountain range, lake Wakatipu, and Queenstown itself on the other side of the lake. We walked for over two hours, taking lots of pictures given that it was a gorgeous day. There is a water taxi about 10 minutes away on foot but with a limited schedule that takes you to the town if you wish to leave your car at the studio and avoid the drive into town. Queenstown has a lot to offer including a gondola ride that gives you a superb view of the city below and the surrounding mountains. And there are lots of things to see not far from Queenstown.

The studio, while impeccably clean, was quite small. Since we came to NZ for over a month and travelling to the far North and deep South, we brought clothes for hot and cold weather as well as hiking boots. Thus we had two suitcases and there was not much room to place them anywhere. As a result, there was little counter space to make sandwiches or do any cooking had we wished to. With global warming, NZ is heating more quickly than the world in general. An efficient cooling system will become increasingly necessary, either a good fan or AC. We had neither. There is a large sliding window but no possibility of getting a draft and so we were quite warm overnight. The mini-fridge is flush with the floor and one had to almost get down on all fours to access its contents. For older people that could be an issue. Finally, on booking.com it states that the studio is 2.6 kms from Queenstown but according to google maps, the actual distance is 13 kms. This needs to be fixed. The driving time to the city center can vary from 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day as there can be lots of traffic.

Mattress is comfortable. The room is neat and clean.

Could be installed the mosquito net.
