Gieters Gruttertje, Vintage stay in the village centre

This is one of the coolest places we've ever stayed, and we wished we'd stayed longer than 1 night! The location is amazing. To be in central Giethoorn but also to be able to park right beside the house is great. The building is unique. It seemed to be a former barn with very high ceiling and a unique structure, that could have been a hipster bar at some point. There was a 'bar' in the large main living area. Being large and open-plan, it was very cool but not really cosy. The projector screen (watchable from the main bed) and entertainment system was amazing for watching films, and the hot tub in the separate cabin was also very cool, with a TV and sound system. The breakfast (made to order and delivered that morning on a trolley) was beautifully presented and so tasty. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, providing advice and being available for quesitons.

The hot tub, though amazing, was an expensive extra (50 euro for 1 night of use - though this was clearly communicated). We had to pay for this, along with breakfast, in cash. The description of '2 bedrooms' is incorrect. The main bed is in the large living area, the next largest bed is in a cupboard (a Dutch bed), and the smallest bed is like a padded bench in the kitchen. We made it work (putting our toddler's travel cot in the kitchen, so we could spend time in the living area that evening) but it wasn't ideal. There were some ants on the table in the main living area (around the meringues provided for us!)

We liked everything with this property! I think it is the best place to stay in Giethoorn! The house is super nicely decorated, has everything you need and more. It is very spacious (you could not really tell from the photos). It is accessible by car (that's why it was better for us than other B&Bs in the canals) although it is in the center and close to everything. The hosts are extremely nice people too! We would absolutely recommend staying at this place and would gladly return.

There is nothing that we did not like.

Everything, it was beautifully decorated, had literally everything to make it a comfortable stay. The host was very nice and even baked us a welcome cake. Wow, highly recommendable.

Fantastic location, amazing host, wonderful property. Don't hesitate to book! Also, definitely book the jacuzzi!! We had a cozy and relaxing evening and the home cinema was the cherry on top.

I think the village of Gierthoorn would have been better in the summer :)

restaurants are not good the jacuzzi is not part of house and it’s not with the same amount of rent you should pay more, and that’s what I did not know before renting

Super friendly people, very clean, a lot of details and heritage inside while providing great level of comfort
