Miramar Apartment with pool by Holiday Rental Madeira

Close to the centre, easy check in and quick response from apartment management.

The showers didn't work properly, didn't fit on the wall fixtures so we had to hold it the whole time and we had no hot water for a couple of days. The agency tried to help and send someone out but it is not acceptable to be without hot water or to find out that someone put the batteries the wrong way on our boiler One of the toilets was broken so we had to allow the other guests to come into our master bedroom to be able to use the ensuite. Also, you could have only one person using the hot water at a time, which was inconvenient for our group as it made getting ready for our reservations take much longer than supposed to. They only gave us one set of keys, which makes it so inconvenient to be able to do different things and were forced to always stay in the area in case someone from our group needed to return earlier. Also, there is limited access to the pool, the access door is locked so if you decide to enjoy the pool whilst someone from your group wants to go out, you can get locked out from the flat, there is a note on the pool door in portuguese so if you don't speak the language, you won't have a clue why you got locked out. On one of the days, as I was using a sunlounger by the pool, my husband (english) came to join me and was told by 2 cleaners that he was not allowed to use the loungers as they were finished and proceeded to sit on them and smirk to each other. I came and asked them for a lounger in portuguese and they proceeded to make a fuss about them but eventually gave in and allowed me to grab a lounger to put next to mine. At no point there is a time limit displayed for sunloungers or pool access so we couldn't understand what their deal was. After that, they sat on the loungers for almost an hour giggling and gossiping whilst staring at us and making us feel terribly uncomfortable.

Terrible pillows, shower kept going cold, only 1 set of keys, so the person with the keys had to be there when the others wanted to return. Three easy fixes, I'd say.

This is a nice apartment - plenty of space, a great location handy for central Funchal and the hotel zone. The beds were comfy and there are two bathrooms. The pool was a great addition and we used it a couple of times.

The kitchen could be better equipped and the showers/hot water a bit inconsistent. It's by a busy road, which we didn't mind but worth knowing about.

The flat is dark and smells of old furniture, which it is full off. The furniture is massively outdated (and tasteless - sorry :-/ ) sometimes even broken, the cupboard misses a door, electricity doesn’t work everywhere, drawers open very difficult, .. The kitchen is disgusting and doesn’t have windows nor a dishwasher. The knives are as sharp as a spoon, the pans are completely done (the black Teflon is totally scratched of, not very healthy) as there are only kitchen helpers made of metal,… The location is super central which is great, but it is so noisy at night due to the Main Street. Due to the many cars busses and trucks passing by, sitting on the balcony during the day isn’t really nice, a lot of pollution. The warm water works randomly. There is not enough for 2 people to take a hot shower. It takes several minutes sometimes until there comes hot water. Out of a sudden it turns cold again, then boiling hot. I have never written such a bad review and am really sorry for this. But the apartment was just not for us.

lots of room

The size of the apartment was great, lots of space. It was very clean and had what we needed in terms of kitchen utensils, large fridge,oven, toaster etc. The kids used the dvd player so this was an added bonus, along with the very good WiFi. The location was very good for us, we know it well so very central.

There was no air conditioning which we knew when we booked, however it did get quite hot. We were provided with fans which we were grateful for but you really needed the balcony door open at all times but this could be quite noisy with a busy road below. We had a shortage of towels, we were told there were more in the cupboards but there wasn't anymore.
