Pirilampo

This is an idyllic place. We had a wonderful time enjoying the scenery, the beautiful garden and just relaxing in the glorious sunshine. The apartment is so comfortable. The location is very convenient for sightseeing and walking. We loved the West Coast, which was a revelation to us. Thank you Benedita and Marc for creating this piece of heaven and for being such wonderful, fun hosts with great tips on restaurants and places to visit.

We loved the property! It’s such a beautiful setting - Benedita and Marc have really put so much thought into making the gardens just beautiful to look at every day. There is always something new to explore and look at - flowers, plants, shrubs, herbs! The rosemary and lavender make the place smell amazing. I loved that there were different places to sit and enjoy the surroundings - a hammock, a day bed, a bench, patio tables and chairs, etc. The pool area is clean and tidy and there are plenty of loungers and shade if needed. The pool is lovely and we liked how it looked out on the view. The accommodation itself had everything we needed - some self catering kitchenettes are a bit useless, but this one was great; it had everything we needed (on occasion, we had to think around how to cook something without an oven, but this wasn’t a problem - you have the induction hob and the microwave). There is an indoor table and chairs and a little sofa. The bathroom is clean and well presented, with a great big sink and a lovely rainforest shower (it washed my thick mane of hair quite easily). There is a hairdryer. The bedroom was nice too - the bed was large and although the mattress was a little hard for us, Benedita was happy to provide another duvet to put underneath the fitted sheet to make it a little softer (she even helped us put it on!) If you sleep with the window open, make sure to use the mosquito net as there were a few chompers. Benedita and Marc (and Bolinha the dog) are great hosts - checking that we were happy and had everything we needed. The property felt safe and secure. We were the only guests in the property the week we stayed; it was lovely getting to know our hosts a little bit.

I wouldn’t say I disliked it because I wanted to be in the middle of nowhere on this trip but make sure you plan extra time into your journeys to and from the property if you are not used to mountain roads (small, windy, steep, etc). Be prepared also that it gets cold in the mountains even when it’s been really hot all day. We (stupidly) didn’t consider this in our packing - make sure you take a hoodie and a pair of trousers in case that wind picks up! (Which it can do, you’re in the mountains, for crying out loud!) If you’re a light sleeper like me, you might benefit from earplugs if you sleep with the window open as the beautiful big palm trees outside get a bit noisy when the wind is up.

Benedita and Marc are the most hospitable landlords you can ever imagine. With their unique location, beautiful garden and comfortable apartment you can enjoy life at its fullest.

We loved our apartment! wonderful view, fully stocked kitchen cookware, great bed and the gardens and infinity pool were amazing! Best part were the hosts! So helpful and friendly!!!

A beautiful place to relax with generous and warm-hearted hosts, Marc and Benedita. There is everything you would want away from the touristy Algarve, with mountain hikes, lovely local restaurants, very well-appointed apartments in lovely grounds, access to the west coast beaches, and a great pool in which to swim or play. The hosts are always on hand, though intrusive, and gave us excellent advice, little extras such as fruit and pancakes, and even a lift to a restaurant and good friendship.

There is nothing not to like.
