Absolutely spotless and very well equipped apartment. Quiet at night. Bed as comfortable as ours at home. Antonio showed us the apartment and did the apartment orientation, helped with our bags, showed us the parking and drove us back to the apartment. Super nice guy and apartment.

We liked everything because the hosts were flexible, the property was clean and super spacious and comfy, and above all, the hosts thought of every little detail you could think of as in practicality. I highly recommend their apartment. In fact, if every stay was this comfortable, it would be perfect!

Nothing to not like.

We arrived at our location in the night. For the host, this was no problem at all. He helped us with our belongings and looked with us for a free car parking space nearby. Then toured flat on the top floor overlooking the area. Flat was so complete. From fresh fruit to towels. Aluminium foil etc everything was there. felt like we were at home. Good blackout in the bedroom. Entire flat equipped with air conditioning. And for winter a heater. Kitchen equipped with oven, washing machine and cooker coffee and tea. Bathroom lovely hot water with hard jet.

The host provided everything we could want and more. He was extremely accommodating with the check in and went out of his way to make sure we were settled. Everything was sooo clean. The location is an easy walk to restaurants and pubs. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in Viseu.

The hosts were super friendly! They even got us tickets for the festival that was there at the time. The apartment has everything you need and the views are really amazing. We would really recommend!

We stayed at Vigia's Guest House for 5 nights, and we loved it! António and AnaPaula are consummate hosts, very generous, with excellent communication. António even picked us up from the bus station and gave us a quick tour of the city before introducing us to the Guest House! The apartment has been thoughtfully renovated, including very high quality insulated windows, and is spotlessly maintained. Everything is comfortable for a very pleasant stay. Every room is light-filled, but without direct sun glare. The bedroom has solid shutters for the windows to darken the room for sleep. The kitchen is well equipped for everything you need for light cooking. Limited counter space means you won't likely be cooking multi-course meals, but if you are on holiday you probably want to explore the wide range of delicious food available in Viseu! Do take advantage of the delightful churrasqueira "A Viela" around the bend down the slope. The bed was very comfortable, although the frame creaked a bit. Note that the location is excellent for exploring the city on foot or connecting with the city bus system, but that the apartment entry is on a steep slope near the top of a steep hill, and of course you need to manage the stairs to the apartment door. Right across the street is the fascinating Keil Amaral museum, profiling multiple generations of a local family boasting artists, architects, collectors, a musician, and a dancer. An archeology collection is steps away up the hill, and a few steps more take you to the very impressive cathedral square, including the Grão Vasco art museum as well as the Sé Cathedral and the Igreja da Misericórdia.

This is not an actual negative, but summer travelers note: as of this writing, the apartment listing has not yet been updated to remove Air Conditioning from the list of amenities. António said the AC stopped working when they upgraded the windows (a window unit, maybe?). But the good news is you don't need it! We were there in late August with high temperatures at 30C and above, but the apartment never got hot. Temperatures peak early in the day (about 4pm), and quickly drop. Just open up the windows at the cool of the evening, and close them up again in the morning as temperatures begin to rise. Opening the windows at night does mean you hear more city sounds, including (in our case) the concerts happening at the Sâo Mateus festival. The concerts all ended by 11pm or midnight (depending on the night). Very minor nuisance: if you are traveling with another person, only one set of keys is available--and the apartment door does not lock automatically, with no physical latch on the inside. This means that you lock the door with the key after you enter, and if one of you wants to leave separately then you need to lock the door behind them after they leave, and coordinate to get back in. This ended up being no problem for us, but is a factor for planning your days.
