Central location, big bedrooms, clean bedding. A good working class accommodation, but a bit grubby around the edges.

The kitchen had 1 cup between 3 of us, no kettle (so we boiled water in a saucepan), no teaspoons and was generally a bit grubby. The shower hadn't been cleaned in a while and there was no hot water. I was able to have hot water to wash and shave, but the showers weren't reliable.

I was in the apartment with my family. The check in went smoothly and Murad was very accommodating with the luggage assistance. Unfortunately we noticed after handing over the keys that the whole apartment was completely dirty. There was mold everywhere in the bathroom and dirt and insects in the kitchen. We didn't complain about all this at first and cleaned it up. But the reason was also that we had older people with us and wanted to avoid moving for 3 days. The worst thing was that we found bedbugs in all the mattresses. Me and my family woke up with a rash. I informed him immediately but all I got was an apology and a reminder to pay the 60Euro. I asked him to organize new sheets within an hour (it was even with blood stains) but he didn't come. After 2 hours he called and asked me for 60Euro for tourist tax. The next day he called me again to ask for the money but we still slept with dirty sheets. I went to his shop in person but the only response I got was that I had to pay even though I had already paid over 300 euros in advance. This behavior is unacceptable and disrespectful. This apartment should be removed from the website and I demand my money back immediately!

Was not clean at all! Was very dirty! I had to clean it by myself since was delicate for us specially for my child (3 years old) and my mother (70 years old).

There was nothing to like about this place.

The rooms were not very clean. The white towels were old, hard and dirty. All the mirrors were dirty and smudgy. There was no air conditioning and the fans were not very effective. There were no curtains in the master bedroom window and we had to somehow string up a sheet for privacy. The TV remote control was broken. The kitchen window did not have a curtain in it. One of the drinking glasses had a chip around the rim making it unsafe to use. The wardrobe in one of the bedrooms did not have enough hangers and shelves were broken. One of the toilets was not lockable and the commode top was broken. On the second day the main bathroom had a leak from the ceiling directly onto the commode.

It's so bad here, it's hard to say anything good about it. I feel like I'm in a jail. Better just leave it. This room is arguably the worst room I've stayed in so far. I don't even know where to begin. I'll break it down into four points: hygiene, facilities, landlord, and security. I'll discuss them separately. Firstly let's talk about hygiene. The hygiene here is deplorable. There was a very disgusting smell right on the stairs. When you enter the house, there are countless flies flying around the house. The floor was even a bit sticky so none of the shoes were taken off. Hair was found on the beds in both bedrooms. Yellow spots were found on the white sheets. Toilet hygiene was even more weighty. We found cracks in the bathtub and even some unidentified objects on the toilet bowl. Next we talk about the facilities. Almost all the furniture here was outdated and the furnishings were old the house was cold. The light in one of the bathrooms was broken and was constantly strobing as if it was a shot from a horror film. We didn't even bother to use this bathroom. The kitchen was uncomfortable, very spartan and dirty, with what appeared to be unbrushed cups on the countertop. The whole cooker and cupboards were spartan, cleaning products were lying around and any cooking tools were not provided (although we had no intention of cooking). The fridge reeked of rotting meat and was disgusting.

After that, let's explore the landlord. Firstly, conceitedly I think my English is OK. My girlfriend is fluent in Portuguese. But we still found it very difficult to communicate with the landlord. It made it difficult for us. We had some problems during our stay, we tried to communicate with the landlord, but there was a huge barrier to communication We communicated for about fifteen to twenty minutes, during which we called five or six times, in English and Portuguese; the landlord didn't have WhatsApp, otherwise it might have been better to communicate by text. Afterwards I don't think the landlord understood at all. Even if he agreed with us and said "OKOK" on the phone, because he didn't show up next and wasn't there to help us with the problem. Lastly, safety was also an issue with this house The house is on a very narrow uphill road. The area for pedestrians to walk is very narrow; and the road is very uneven. My girlfriend and I went to the neighbourhood bar in Cais de sodre that night and walked back around 1:00 to 2:00 or so. There were a lot of street punks or homeless people gathering there at night. They shouted at us and although we didn't understand what they were saying, it made us feel uncomfortable. Overall, I highly do not recommend staying here. In terms of hygiene, facilities, landlord and security. It really gave me a very, very bad experience.
