Madragoa Cosy Apartment

The communication was very good since the beginning, which made everything easier. Everybody was really nice and helpful. The apartment has all we needed and is situated very close to the centre.

Rita and her husband were very nice. That was probably the most outstanding part of this property. The apartment surely gave us the very old town Portugal experience we expected. It is easy to walk to a lot of tourism hotspots. We walked to time out market. Many quality dinning choices. Within 5 min walk, there is a major grocery store. The place is clean. We checked mattresses and sofa cushion, no signs of bugs. The location is quiet. You can surely hear street noise and your neighbors, not too bad. We were worried about that construction right before it, turned out to be alright for us. Overall, a cute place, like the front gate has a door knocker that was a little metal fist .

We don’t want to make things sound like we didn’t like the apartment, but something future visitors may need to know: 1. The location is always confusing for bolt and Uber drivers. They simply couldn’t find the location. Once you know where the builds is, it is just a 2min walk from your taxi drop off or pick up point. Be aware of that as we struggled a bit on the first day. 2. It is an old town location, so it is small. Things can be better renovated. Things felt old, but you may like it. Some new towels would be better, paper towel in the kitchen would have been nice. Nothing mayor, just to set expectations right. By the way, no washing machine or dryer. That was ok for us, but if you needed laundry, there were outside options. 3. Yes, one of the bedrooms didn’t have window, no big deal for winter. But air flow can be hampered. They provided heaters, adequate for our stay. 4. This may be an one off. We had smelly bed sheets and duvet cover. We first thought that was just the cover. Rita’s husband came in the same day and replaced it. They are really nice people. Then we realized the sheet also smelled. We didn’t want to bother them around holidays. The bed sheet was obviously not properly dried, smelled like sweaty T shirts. I had to sleep to my left side so that the smell wouldn’t bother me much. Maybe a humidity issue, their cleaning staff may want to better attend to this issue.

I made the mistake of booking this not realising there was No AC which is entirely my fault but it was so uncomfortably hot that we had great trouble trying to sleep, wouldn’t recommend staying here if the weather is hot!
