Miguel Torga Diamond Penthouse

The apartment was spacious and had everything you would need for a short or long stay. The living room couch was very comfortable and we spent most rainy days there. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was better than any others we've had in Portugal.

The apartment had a bit of an odd smell. The building was not very nice, but it was right by the main area so that was great for walking around. The bedroom bed was not very comfortable, so we opted for the couch instead.

The host meet us and showed us where to park which was great.

The shower was bad, the clean towels on the bed were damp and there were hairs on bedding. The sofa bed was terrible with a wooden board under half of it. The street was so noisy.

The view terrace was very large and would be excellent during sunny weather. It rained a bit during my stay, still, I spent some time on the terrace with my camera. I was about to leave for dinner when I thought, "It'd be great if they had an umbrella in the apartment". As I approached the door I saw there was an umbrella! It had a broken spoke, still, did the job and made my walk to dinner much nicer.

The building and apartment could use a little updating but it was comfortable and fully functional.

I generally give 10 in a review rating if the accommodation actually has the facilities described in the room. Hence it is really important to look at what each accommodation is offering and decide for yourself if this is what you are after. Not the fact that I have rated the accommodation 10. I am not looking for 5 star luxury either. When I travel for holidays I am looking for really basic amenities. The location of the property is ideal and it is also located in a flat area of Coimbra. Look for the address on the building itself over the doorway facing a side street as Google Maps gets a bit confused, noting there are a number of buildings in the same area. There is a large supermarket within 5 minutes walking distance. The apartment is fully equipped and very quiet with balcony views in multiple directions. At the time of writing if you arrive by train at Coimbra-B station there is a free bus replacing train service to take you to a location very close to Coimbra-A station while they build / replace the connection between the two stations. The apartment is very close to Coimbra-A station within Coimbra itself.

A great location! It took us a while to get our bearings, but we soon realized we were very close to a lot of great restaurants, groceries, etc. The bed is comfortable, there is plenty of storage space, and all the basics are provided in the kitchen, including a full size fridge. We appreciate that there is an elevator, as well as a washer. Plenty of hot water. Big bath towels. Check out was simple.

Would've been nice to have a couple of coffee pods for the first morning (we left some for the next guests). Also, we prefer to have a wash cloth for showers, but inly found bath and hand towels. The door key is a little tricky - need to pull the door toward you to unlock. The other negative is the construction going on all around the building, which we understand is not in the owner's control, but maybe make potential guests aware. Views are nice, especially looking toward the university and "old" Coimbra.
