The location is good enough, city center in walking distance. access to key was easy (but only after I translated their message from portuguese to english).

Asked for a quiet room - they gave me appartment B right at the street. which has just one window and that opens at street level (can touch the road surface from the window, literally, due to the steep incline the house is built at). cars blasting by occasionally, centimeters away from the window - not too often, but often enough to be annoying. sewer manhole in the street right in front of window, permanent sound of flowing water when window open. really strong smell of mold when i entered, the vent in bathroom showed black mold, a common problem on the island and in houses with poor ventilation. leaving window open for few hours helped remove the stench, as long as i kept the wardrobe shut and unused. inside wardrobe, you could taste the mold in the air, even though it was not visible. no proper bed blankets, was freezing at night. very hard bed. fridge so loud, had to switch it off at night. kitchen: oven did not work at all, no pans and pots either. really bad sound insulation inside the house, people talking and walking at apartment above was annoying. no reaction to my complaint about window blinds upstairs making really loud banging noises in the wind at night.

Good value for money! Washing machine, fully equipped kitchen (including oil and spices for cooking and some leftover rice coffee etc from other travellers). Comfortable for a couple, responsive host.

Tough to dry clothes / air out apartment with the window facing the street. But we made it work! Plus it is the reason why this unit is cheaper than the other apartments in this house, and we were outside the whole day anyways :))
