Bathroom and Laundry

The wifi didn’t work for the majority of our stay and we stayed almost a week. No effort from the host to resolve it which was extremely disappointing. The TV was also useless. The room is a bit lower than street level so if you wanted to open the window anybody can just climb inside so we were stuck with one light bulb for the whole place as the other lightbulb just flickers. Very musty and mold smell as soon as you enter. No ventilation. Need a more secure trash can and paper towels

The apartment is clean and nice with useful kitchen. There is a nice park right next to it. Location is good, around 10 minutes walk from downtown. There were free parking spots on the steep parallel street, or paid parking even closer.

The kitchen cabinets under the kitchen sink had moldy smell when opened.

Really good value for money and location, one of the cheapest places in Funchal at the time of booking. You can find anything you need (restaurants, supermarkets and the main town centre) closeby. We particularly liked how spacious the apartment was, with kitchen facilities (fridge, hob, coffee machine) to prepare food and coffee, which was essential for our early morning starts. Although the property does not offer parking, there is a big multi-storey car park nearby (3-4 mins walk), with 5EU fee for 24h. Key collection was really simple as well, from a lock box. Keeping the windows open and using the small fan provided was sufficient to remain cool during the night (we visited in June). The host, although she didn't know english replied quickly to our messages (we used google translate) and made sure everything was ok.

One thing you need to consider is that it is next to a large building site, so noisy after 7-8 am. Bed and sofa were ok to sleep on, but not the comfiest. We struggled to figure out the hot water situation for the first 2 nights, as we did not know we had to open the small box on the wall and turn on the water heater. The drying rack was also broken and the fan was very dirty, we had to clean it before we used it.

A real gem in walking distance to the city center. I recommend this place, it is truly perfect as a holiday apartment!
