Excellent 2 bedroom apartment in Lisbon

Very nice and safe neighborhood with plenty of convenience nearby (coffee and pastries, pharmacy, and grocery are all across the street in the same block). There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a few bus lines run right by the front door. Easy walk to the Belem train station to get to the busier areas (or at least more touristy) as well as all Belem sites are closed/walkable (not to mention the Ajuda Palace just up the hill). The same train runs away from town for an easy trip to the beaches toward Estoril or Cascais. A trip to airport in an Uber cost us about €12 and took about 15-20 minutes at 0930. We booked that the night before (Bolt was also an option, but no Lyft). Finally, there is a washer in the unit so we bought detergent at the market across the street and used that. If I had planned better, I could have packed considerably less and reserved space for another couple bottles of ginjinha or cans of sardines

It seemed that the downstairs neighbor would start smoking in his/her apartment each night around the time we were ready to sleep. I could smell this in the main bedroom. I have a very sensitive nose and this bothered my sleep but the other rooms were not affected by it. My companion did not notice it, even when I pointed it out, so this may not be an issue at all for most travelers.

Ajuda is very nice part of Lisbon and the old tramway 18 is just around the corner.

Good location, good utility.

Good location (near to Belem), apartment is well equiped -air conditioner, washing machine etc (only oil in kitchen woud be very handy). Public transport is very near and also food shops are close.

Downstair neighbor - when we arrived in first 5 min he already knocked on our door and told that we are walking to loud. We didnt had suitcases, only backpacks (if we had suitcases I guess the noise woud be even higher). During our stay I all the time reminded to my kids that they need to walk more quietly. Check out time: in booking indicated 9.30-10.30, but in hosts message 9.30.

Honestly speaking, the title of this accommodation is misleading and our very short stay was everything but excellent! We did not receive any instructions from the host beforehand and had to wait half an hour outside the house on arrival until we received the code to the flat. Since we could not get hold of the host, we had to contact Booking.com, who fortunately were able to send us the information we needed. Entering the house there was an unpleasant smell and the first thing we noticed was hair on the washbasin and the toilet. We also found hair scattered on the floor throughout the flat. The most unpleasant surprise was the stain we found on the bedsheet, when coming back from the city center late in the evening. The stain felt hard as it is typical for sperm (see enclosed photo). In general, the sheets looked wrinkled and used. We asked the host if there were clean sheets in the apartment. However, when he informed us that the cleaning lady could “check it out but only tomorrow”, we decided to leave immediately and find a new place to stay, as having to sleep in a dirty bed is simply unacceptable. Even though we did not even stay one night, we had to pay the first night and even the cleaning costs. Not Recommended to stay there.
