Chateau Belomonte

The apartment we stayed in is on the first floor. Other apartments are referred to in reviews that are on higher floors in the building. It is in the old town and a perfect location for the main attractions, shops and restaurants, as many reviewers have said. There is a good size kitchen with a table to seat 4, which was fine for meals. The living room is also spacious and comortable. There are two double bedrooms, one with an en suite, with toilet, sink and shower. There is a separate larger bathroom, for use of the occupants of the second bedroom, with the same facilities. Overall, we were happy with the accomodation, subject to our comments below.

Unfortunately, we had one major issue and that related to the en suite shower. When we arrived we found that one door of the shower was missing and the other door was loose, in fact it came off the runners and nearly fell on one of our group. This meant that the shower could not be used as if you tried to do so it soaked the floor which then had to be mopped. We informed the owners and someone came to remove the remaining door but unfortunately the doors were not replaced while we were there. The advice was to share the shower in the bathroom but we were two couples who specifically wanted separate bathroom facilities and booked because that is what was offered. We only hope that the owners have now replaced the shower doors so others do not have this problem. Worth checking in advance. We have subsequently seen a review, dated 12 April, so over a month before our stay, that stated that the door to the en suite shower was missing, so it seems this was known for some time. If we had not had this issue we would have given a higher mark.

It is a great space to chill out after a days walking; everything about the apartment was great; it was a good size with a great living space to chill out. The kitchen was big and has all the essentials. There was an are to wash and dry clothes too. It was so clean. The location was 10/10 - it was just perfect whether you turned left or right when you came into the street it didn’t matter.

Charming, somewhat dated apartment. Well-equipped and in a good location.

The apartment is located on the 4th floor and the elevator wasn't working. Furthermore, we were occasionally bothered by unpleasant smells from outside.

Spacious apartment in the old town and great location for exploring, particularly for the river, and a choice of great restaurants and coffee shops on the doorstep.

The lift was out of action and an overwhelming smell of turps in the stairwell, obviously not the fault of the apartment. It is a nice apartment but needs refreshing. Bits of mould and water damage in the (second) bathroom, dining chairs are very marked, that sort of thing. Some confusion on entering the apartment on arrival, again not necessarily the fault of the apartment although I had requested assistance for our late arrival via booking.com which seemed to have been accepted? Getting assistance and finding entry codes when it was late dark and you are tired was a little stressful 😅

Very well located in Oporto old town Big enough for 4 people: 2 spacious bedrooms, 2 WC, big kitchen and living room and great views to the city and river area

The location of the apartment was excellent, right in the city center, with everything easily reachable within a short walking distance. The view from the apartment was exceptional, and the kitchen had all the basic necessities we needed. The WiFi worked well, and the cleanliness and bed linen were also very good.

Our apartment was on the top floor, and we had already seen in previous reviews that there was no elevator. This was not a problem for us, but we should mention that climbing the steep and narrow stairs to the top can sometimes be exhausting, especially for people who are not in good physical condition. The only thing we did not like was the smell coming from the balcony area. Because of that, we rarely used or opened the balcony doors. There was a restaurant below the apartment, and the constant smell of frying meat and fast food was quite unpleasant.

So einen Lärm in der Nacht hatten wir bislang noch nie in einer Stadtwohnung. Durch das Kopfsteinpflaster und die alten Fenster fühlte es sich wie an einer Autobahn an. Zu allem Überfluss wurde das UG renoviert mit entsprechendem Krach am Morgen. Die kleine Dusche im Bad des Hauptschlafzimmers war nicht nutzbar, da die Duschwand fehlt und man somit das ganze Bad unter Wasser setzt, wenn man duscht. Die andere Dusche war prima
