Santo António House - Exclusive Apartment

Perfect location for me, within a busy neighbourhood but an oasis of calm with the door closed at night. I could walk everywhere easily, or take tram 12. The wine bar Graço do Vinho is well worth a visit for the laid back knowledgeable owner’s recommendations! Also the local handicrafts shop by the Sushi place, the bakers in R de Santa M. nha for fresh bread and pastries.

Nothing. Some people have mentioned noise from upstairs people moving about, but it was really not that bad. And they do have to move around their apartment!!

We were not given accurate check in instructions. We were told that the host would meet us to provide the keys. Instead we were were given a code of one of the doors but not the other, so were unable to get into the property after a long day of travelling. Eventually a resident staying in one of the neighbouring properties let us in. The most traumatic part of the stay was when the host (who went into the apartment to provide extra toilet paper) accused us of having extra guests staying and opening a locked cupboard to obtain extra bedding. She demanded an extra 250 euros for this and told us she would be coming to collect this. She closed the door outside the apartment and did not tell us that there was latch to open it. The apartment is advertised as having 2 beds - I was staying in one room and my friend in the other ( we had informed the host that there were 2 people coming). There was an open cupboard with bedding and we used this to make up the sofa bed. We certainly did not force open any cupboard, and chose this apartment as it was advertised as having 2 separate beds. At no point did we have extra guests. My friend and I believed that we were locked out as the host did not tell us how to open the outside door. We were terrified as our passports were inside and we did not have an extra 250 euros. Eventually we worked out how to open the outside door. We corresponded with booking.com and asked them to ask the host not to come to the apartment. We went out that evening and the host messaged us to advise that she had been to the apartment. When I was complained to booking.com, they advised that the host had agreed to provide another short stay free of charge at the apartment. I was left absolutely traumatised by my stay, and I would never go back. When I believed I was locked outside the apartment, a neighbouring host advised me that multiple residents had had issues with the host of this apartment. I would absolutely dissuade anyone from ever staying here.

The location warms you up to Lisboa in all its glory. Close to restaurants, mercados, shopping centers, this charming 1BR was spacious enough and arguably had the biggest bathroom we have seen in apartments in Europe! Despite being on the ground floor, the rooms had enough light and we were also lucky to have bright sunny days during our stay. Last and most importantly, Telma was absolutely adorable as a host. From personally welcoming us to the property, to recommending places, her responsive was phenomenal! Word of advice: In case you wanna have local food at reasonably cheap prices, take the really short uphill walk to Graça.
