Double Suite Santa Monica - Free Parking

A beautiful, large, light property, with welcoming owners. Supermarkets were just around the corner, so we could cook for ourselves, but also plenty of places to eat out nearby. The beach was around 30 minutes walk away, which was fine with our teenage children. Universal Studios was only a 30 minute drive away, too. Information about the property and the area was provided by the hosts and was really helpful and detailed.

We are a family who was here for a son’s music camp week, so we were not sightseeing, FWIW. This is a well maintained 60s(?70s?) apartment in a quiet residential location. This means that the walls are on the thin side; a heavy tread may echo. The neighboring bldgs are close, so you hesitate to open windows or curtains, but rooms felt sunny. - LOCATION walking distance to TJs, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Chipotle, Tartine; short drive to Vons, to SM Pier. - ROOM SET UP: 2 bdrm with 2 full baths upstairs and a powder room downstairs. 2 sofa-futons on the first floor which my teenaged sons slept on. The set up was just perfect for us and we were very thankful! The apartment shared walls, but no floors/ceilings (the 2 upstairs bdrms are above the living room/kitchen), which made us less nervous about making too much noise. - KITCHEN: we didn’t cook but there seemed to be a full kitchen set up in terms of cooking equipment. Everything looked very new and everything matched, which we appreciated. The fridge had a filtered water dispenser, yay (A pet peeve of holiday rentals is having to go buy a bunch of water or drinking meh-tasting tap water) - BEDDING/LINENS: the bedding and linens were well provided for and comfy! The towels were waffled and felt very soft! - MISC items: we didn’t use these, but the property owner provided an umbrella stroller, a pack and play (?), a beach umbrella, a regular umbrella, etc. — in short, there seemed to be a lot of care around the possible needs of the guests. Even though we didn’t use these, I think this reflects the approach to the property itself — namely that they took a lot of care in thinking things through. - CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS: the property had a lot of signage which made the rules very clear, which was very appreciated. - HOST: excellent communication! I never saw them, but they made sure we were taken care of. We had no real issues but I felt reassured that anything would be taken care of in a timely manner. - AC: 👍

INTERNET: the internet was a little iffy during the 2 days we were there. My husband had to conduct one 2 hour meeting during — it worked out in the end, but there were some glitches. Not sure if this kind of coverage was a fluke or not. SOFABED/FUTON: not surprising and certainly not a deal breaker but my teens said these were not the most comfortable beds to sleep on. CLEANER SMELL?: We aren’t sure what the origin of the smell was, but literally the one thing we really didn’t like was the smell in the bedrooms — was it ammonia? I’m not sure. We would get used to it after some minutes but we always noticed it upon returning to the house. None of these were dealbreakers for us, and we were very thankful for this property and the host.

Perfect location in Santa Monica, not very close 3rd street (which I prefer) but very central for everything else, it was about a 40 min walk down to the pier and a 20 minute bus ride down.

The locación was great, near markets and shops and at the same time it was a very peaceful location.

The location of the apartment was amazing, just minutes away from the Ocean and around the corner from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and a number of cute restaurants/cafes/stores. Hosts are very responsive.
