CONCORD APARTMENTS Unit 1

Thorough instruction for check in. Location is 10/10. The café in the same building is great. Apartment has what you need.

However, the aircon is outdated and need and upgrade. We set on full cooling effect at 17 degrees but the room was still a sauna and we could barely sleep. It was so hot. Luckily there was a fan. As sleep and comfort is something I value highly, it takes down the overall impression. If you can sleep in 25-28 degrees, all good. Not recommended if you have children.

Washing Machine, coffee maker were bonus. The Location to the town was ok, but, several things were not.

1. No table or chairs to eat at. No stools to sit at the breakfast bar either. We had to sit on a sofa to eat from a low coffee table, this was a problem. 2. 50% of the living area had "floor to ceiling glass with 2 window and a sliding door". However, we could not open the windows for several reasons: a, THE DISGUSTING SMELL OF COOKING FAT BEING EXAUSTED BY THE VENTILATION FAN OF THE DOWNSTAIRS RESTAURANT,WHICH WAS LESS THAN 2 .5 METERS FROM THE NEAREST WIDOW. b, Street noise, restaurant noise c, Security 3. The air conditioner was TOTALLY INADEQUATE to cope with the heat. It had inadequate Air Flow and could not reduce the output air temperature to the set desired temperature. This was further exacerbated by the effect of the sun heating the glass walls. 4. South Africa has had "Load shedding" for many years now, DESPITE ADEQUATE TIME and KNOWLEDGE of this, there is NO PROVISION TO PROVIDE THE SERVICES THE GUEST IS PAYING FOR (EXCEPT 2 BEDSIDE LAMPS WITH INTERNAL BATTERIES (which had a useful endurance of 15 minutes). Every time the LOADSHEDDING OCURRED (3 to 4 times a day/night) we lost all power, air conditioning, TV and cooking, fridge facilities. TOTALLY INADEQUATE APARTMENT FOR TOURISTS!!!!! 5. Previously mentioned RESTURANT which was open from early hours until 20,00pm. 6. VIEW was virtually non existent 50% of the viewing area was covered by trees ( some parts of the branches could be touched if you leaned out of the windows! The remaining view was buildings. 7. No security SAFE (locked by previous guests, who the owners could not TRACE (really) 8. Despite contacting the owner reference smells, air conditioner safe, power cuts, the reply was "out of her control" the air conditioner had been serviced, would send a locksmith to open safe if I waited in for him to come to us etc. 9. Apartment is being "micro managed" by a landlord from CAPE TOWN _ BADLY!

location is great and it has off the road parking. There is a great coffee shop and wine bar downstairs.

parking was impossible to get into with our car ( vw bus) only suitable for small cars

It was very confusing way of collecting the keys .The apartments name is obscured by the restaurants blinds / the parking bay is a very tight squeeze if there is a car parked behind you, The concrete pillar was pretty chipped as testimony to this

The location was probably one of the best in Stellenbosch. The apartment is surrounded by beautiful trees and has a exquisite view of the famous Stellenbosch Groot Kerk from the large corner windows. The apartment is sunny and spacious with block out curtains. The kitchen is very well equipped. Below the apartment is two restaurants which serve a lovely breakfast. Needless to say, one gets lured there with the smell of fresh warm croissants and coffee! The apartment has good security and safe off-street parking. The host was very accommodating with requests and was always available. Can most definitely recommend!
