"Simply not worth the money, nor the time, nor the effort ..."

Self catering unit. Staff in Critchley Hackle itself seem to be out of a school and not trained to acceptable standards.

No wifi, owner overseas and contacted by managing agent but failed to top up the wifi during the 2 day stay. Informed that owner is very tight fisted. Unit not prepared for guests at all. No gas for kitchen stove so not able to make coffee on arrivale, unable to cook a meal, unable to cook breakfast. TV not working, batteries in all remotes flat. Soap and shampoo dispensers in shower both empty / not refilled. No dish cloths in kitchen, left out in the rain and on the ground in the back yard. Electric blanket in main bedroom works on one side only. Zero value for money and deposit "not refundable". Absolutely appalling all round, more than disappointing. Dullstroom living up to its name ... "dull". Managing agent slow to respond to call made early Saturday after Friday arrival. Could go on ... wont visit again.

The cottage was amazing and all staff were welcoming and friendly. Meals at the restaurant were really good. I will definately stay again.

I Enjoyed my stay so I have nothing to add here.

"Will not book the Managers Cottage again."

Cottage was not near the pool as seen on the photos - very misleading. No toaster for breakfast, no fan for the heat, no actual curtains to keep light out in the loft, smaller downstairs than seen on photos, cottage is right next to entrance gate so continuously heard vehicles coming and going, found rat droppings in one of the double beds. Not worth the money spent for 2 nights, however there was enough cutlery and crockery, pots and pans etc. TV/DSTV was a nice to have.

location was good, scenery was beautiful

Wi-Fi wasn't working, place had a very weird, stuffy smell, like it has been closed for a long time. Owner or manager at the restaurant humiliated my son in front of everyone, seating in restaurant was terrible, waiter was great but food was overpriced and tasteless
