Brookwood Cottage

The top floor apartment was so comfortable and sparkling clean. It had everything we needed and more. A huge thanks to the hosts who were extremely friendly and welcoming!

Just note that you must be a dog and cat lover to stay there as they are around (super small and cute though, we loved them!)

Lovely, helpful hosts. A nice sized room. Comfortable bed. Clean room and bathroom. Quiet area, conveniently close to nature reserve and wine farms like Vergelegen and Lourensford. The snacks and items left in the fridge for us were a really nice, thoughtful bonus.

Stairs up to the room are quite steep. That was okay for us, but may be an issue for those with mobility challenges.

Firstly, Howard & Teresa are exceptional hosts, really welcoming, friendly and warm. They've gone out of their way to prepare a comfortable and clean space for guests with attention to detail (coffee, tea, sugar, milk and snacks were left for me). I felt blessed to have met them both. It was my first solo trip and it was a bit daunting but staying at their place quickly put me to ease. Lots to learn from these two and they have so much information to offer on attractions, activities and restaurants one can visit. Visited Giovanni's as per Teresa's recommendation and I was not disappointed, the Alfredo was delicious.😋 I would say that Brookwood Cottage is ideal for staying in or venturing out. It's a nice cosy place to stay in with Netflix and WiFi available. There's the option of going out to explore as well. Secondly, the environment is just overall relaxing and pleasant to the eyes. The garden is really beautiful and I was really impressed by the work put into creating this space being a gardener myself. The mountains can be seen from the upstairs cottage. Helderberg Nature Reserve is only 5 minutes away. Me and my partner took the Protea Trail which is surrounded by proteas, despite the area recently experiencing a fire, it is stunning regardless. Lastly, I would love to return to Brookwood Cottage and experience more. I'd definitely recommend it to family and friends as well :)

Leaving the place

Teresa and Howard were such amazing hosts. They helped us settle in nicely. They suggested some nice places to eat nearby like Laurensford wine estate. The apartment was very clean and spacious, fully furnished with everything you need.

It was all great.
