A beautiful Kofun nearby for a fantastic evening walk... a bus stop, a local train 2 minute walk away A super market 5 minute walk away. Great value. The host is very nice. I will definitely come back next time while revisiting Nara.

I have fond memories of my stay here, the owner is very helpful and friendly - on the day of my departure he helped me with my luggage and found me access to the train station. The rooms are clean, air-conditioned and cleaning is offered on request. There is a shop, a train station and a pharmacy next to the hotel. The owner is very happy to provide his own guided tours and treat guests to additional services - I was given fresh dango which was delicious! Highly recommended!

The room was everything I needed and more. Unlike some Japanese hotels I've been to in which there's a shared shower, this room matched the online description exactly: A one bedroom with a shower attached, very much like a Western hotel layout. There was even a small kitchenette area inside the room by the door with a stovetop and sink. There was a laundry rack, balcony with a rail for drying clothes, TV, and small table, all inside the room. The bed was comfortable. Shampoo was in the shower for use. There was even a new plastic-wrapped toothbrush in there with toothpaste in case you forgot that. Towels were also in the bathroom, so keep yours at home and save trunk space. Room service came in every day. The heating unit kept me nice and warm, which was great because Nara is biting cold in January. The hotel is only a few yards from Amagatsuji Station, which can easily connect you to the Kintetsu-Nara Station via two train lines exchanging at Yamato-Saidaiji Station. (Ride one stop, change platforms, then ride two stops, bam! Kintetsu-Nara in 15-17 minutes.) The host was super friendly and accommodating. I knew I would be coming in late that night, so I emailed ahead and he was very kind to leave the key out on the desk for me. He offered to give me a tour around the local area and gave me a photo album (with Japanese and English captions) about onigawara on the temples and their history. He was extremely response to emails and even helped me arrange travel to get to the JR Nara Station when I left Sunday morning.

I flew in to Nara via Kansai airport in Osaka. I didn't realize how far Kansai was from Nara using local trains. It took about four hours. This, of course, isn't the property's fault, but I want to say it here in case someone else is unaware of this. In hindsight, I wouldn't fly in late or fly out too early if you stay here, because of the time it will take for you to get to where you need to go. (Thank goodness for the Airport Limousine Bus at Nara Station! It makes the trip to the airport in 90 minutes. But note you must reserve a seat ahead of time!) Also, the hotel itself is a little out of the way from some of the major tourist attractions. This is easily rectified by the fact you can quickly get to Kintetsu-Nara Station, but if it's late at night and the trains aren't running, it's about an hour walk from Kintetsu-Nara Station to Business Hotel Century. Lastly, when I was trying to find this place late at night, I pasted the address into Google Maps, but Google Maps led me down a different street nearby with apartments. A cyclist who knew English well enough was really kind to stop and help me find the right address (just a 5-8 minute walk around the corner). I might have just had the address wrong, but I also want to put that here in case someone faces the same problem one day trying to locate the hotel. When you exit Amagatsuji Station, going out on the East turnstile stairs (I believe it was East!), simply walk to the road and turn right. You will pass the hotel in a few yards. The sign faces the other direction, but you will see it clearly when you turn around with an arrow pointing to a walkway that goes behind another building. "H.B. Century" I think it says on the sign.
