La Petite Valette

The house was beautiful, very clean and spacious with all en-suite bathrooms. The hosts were very helpful as we had to cut our holiday short due to an onwards boat trip being cancelled between guernsey and jersey. Nothing was to much trouble for them and we couldn’t have asked for more.

The only negative comment would be about the amount of mosquitoes there were. I did tell the estate staff and they were going to see to it. Obviously not their fault but maybe could be sprayed before people arrived as the family were badly bitten. The only other thing I would mention is that there is quite a few steps down to the house and depending on your mobility this could be a problem.

We have used the property previously and already knew what to expect. It is great value for a group of 3 couples and in a lovely, peaceful and secluded setting.

For a self-catering property, there are a few basic things that I would normally expect to be provided by the host but on this occasion weren't. 1. Salt and pepper (we have left some for your next guests - please don't take them away) 2. Cooking oil 3. A roll of kitchen paper towels 4. Cooking foil 5. Dishwasher tablets None of the above detracted from or spoiled the occasion but they would have been nice to have. PLEASE NOTE that you will need to change the bath/shower mixer in the upstairs bathroom. Balance is difficult but of more concern is that (1) the enamel is coming off the taps and (2) the taps were quite difficult to shut after they were open (suggests that the spindles may be knackered)

Mosquitoes! It would have been helpful to be warned about these and have a repellent provided (or advice about how to get one) we had a few really bad nights and horrid bites

Excellent location. Property was clean, in great condition and has everything you would need.

Each couple had own bedroom and bathroom. Spacious, clean, all we needed to self cater but close to restaurants too.

Lots of steps! Smelt musty in downstairs bedroom though not damp at all. The supply of loo paper was only just enough!

Strictly speaking this is a review of La Moinerie as we were re-located at the last minute (pre-arrival) due to an emergency at La Petite Valette. This is a smart, large lodge with superb hosts Kevin and Ivana who could not have done more for us or made us feel more welcome. The bedrooms are enormous! Breakfast was substantial. Nice cosy bar on site.

No particular problem for us but it is worth pointing out that it is further from the 'port' than some of the other hotels. Down a dirt track which is fine, until it rains! It was quite cold at night. No evening meal option if that is what you want, but there are good nearby alternatives.

Great location above the harbour on the hill. spacious and very clean property and very well equipped, the kitchen is very modern and and with enough equipment to cater for a large family. Very comfortable to relax in.

Please send out joining instructions or put the property name on the entrance. It took us a long time to find it and then only managed when asking a local, we had to phone to get the instructions for entry to the property.
