The Clamshell, Oban

This lovely apartment is a gem in Oban, and we can highly recommend it. It is clean, modern and tastefully decorated. Very good kitchen facilities. The location is great within a five minutes walk of city center and harbour as well as public transport (bus, train and ferry). There are two major grocery stores three minutes away (Tesco and M&S Foodhall). The price is competitive. It is very green and peaceful outside the bedroom windows. One living room window has a tree and a creak outside; the other has a street outside, but it is not noisy and best of all: it is not overlooked or cramped like so many other houses in Oban city center. Eilidh, our contact person, was very friendly and helpful and we felt we were in good hands. We received very clear instructions with photos on how to find the house, getting the key and entering the appartment. There was also a complimentary box of delicious shortbread waiting for us at arrival. It truly felt like a home away from home and we would love to stay here again were we to return to Oban one day.🥰

Some minor things only. 1. The apartment door lock was a little tricky; however, there were clear instructions on how to handle that. 2. Space for storing luggage was a little scarce, but still ok for three adults. 3. The bathroom was very fresh and seemed recently renovated, but we found it somewhat tricky to figure out how to get the right temperature for showers. Maybe some instructions could give clarification? In this connection we would also like to mention that there is a power switch for the shower outside the bathroom, which may be standard in the UK, and it was not a problem as such; it just took us a few minutes to figure out since it was new to us.😊

We loved our stay in Oban at the Clamshell apartment. The space was well laid out and nicely decorated. We loved watching the town move around through the corner windows. We also enjoyed the 5 minute walk to the Ferry/ waterfront area, bookstore, or Tesco grocery store. It was a very convenient location. Thankfully, we easily found paralell parking overnight right outside the apartment on both nights. Other highlights include 1. Extra touches left by the host including fresh flowers and small container of milk in fridge 2. Use of washing machine 3. Cleanliness.

We tried to park in the free lot by day which was mentioned by the host. It was a muddy mess in June.

Excellent location, clean, responsive host, walking distance to restaurants, shopping, etc.

parking was tricky but we made it work, noise level at night (had windows open) - Again, these are issues that all cities deal with and would not deter us from staying there again. We loved it!

Beautiful, comfortable and cosy apartment, well located for access to central Oban. Host very friendly, helpful and responsive. This was just what we needed as we were unexpectedly stuck in Oban due to storm Amy.
