Very convenient overall offer for the money in terms of location, safety, spaciousness, cleanliness and facilities affordance. Though at start, my wife and daughters were a bit anxious about the external appearance of the apartment's location with its rural vernacular look, but it turned out to be an added charm to our western coastal shore experience in Luxor, which is a bit under-developed in comparison to the eastern coast, but when you get used to it, hence, when the charm elegantly dives in. Abu Mazen, as a host, was attended in all of our inquiries, and helpful any time of the day. To that extent, we have all decided that should we revisit Luxor again, we will definitely book his apartment, but we hope he can fix the microwave by then.

Nothing, maybe, the missing microwave

Great accommodation a short drive from the Valley of the Kings, across the Nile is Luxor and Karnak, with everything you need in the streets around. The apartment is really huge (100m2), consisting of two large bedrooms, a large living room, kitchen and separate bathroom and toilet. You can also use the washing machine. Everything is clean and comfortably furnished, specially the mattress was excellent. The owner is really nice and very helpful. I highly recommend it, it is also suitable for a longer stay.

This apartment is huge and very confortable. Good value for money. Mohamed is really helpful and considerate. We had a problem with the water and he quickly solved it. I do recommend this apartment.

The location is not the best but you can reach it easily with a local van. The ferry port is not far, within walking distance.

No breakfast offered as it was self - contained; However, information offered as to where I could shop. Decor , bedroom, bathroom and kitchen spotless ! Kitchen had all facilities needed to cook a decent meal but I was more likely to eat out . Thank goodness for the availability of shops that sold bottled beer, and for facilities available next door at the THEBES HOTEL (allowed me use of rooftop, swimming pool, internet breakfast and wifi facilities.). The staff and the husband and wife owners there were very aimiable AND helpful! Fortunately, at the monuments I met a guide who was superb and extremely knowledgeable as he did University research in Egyptology. All in all, local people extremely warm, and friendly! Mahmoud's main objective appeared to extract as much money from clients without offering required information to make your stay more enjoyable. The visits to Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Howard Carter Museum, Luxor and Karnak Temples, were excellent! Add to that the visit to the Pyramids and National Museum in Cairo have all helped me to enjoy my stay. Mahmoud's attention to and offer of help to his clients leaves a lot to be desired. When I told him that when he collected the keys to the self - contained flat. His reply was simply, 'It's business!' : Hmmmmm

1. Internet and wi fi intermittent over 3 out of 5 days that I stayed therel Reason given was that network down , (but everything worked in THEBES HOTEL next door.) . Draw your own conclusions. Any use of radio dependant on streaming from the internet so I lost that too! 2. Advertised TV was not present as it was broken. 3. Shower did not function properly as again it needed fixing. 1st day I realised that any entertainments and guide etc would only be arranged if I used Mahmoud's car! For which I was charged 600 LE (around 24 pounds!) to pick me up from Luxor Go Bus station. I since found that with knowledge that it was within reach on foot with a little application. Over the course of 2 days it cost me 1600 LE for journeys that I found out with a little research were in walking distance! Last 2 days I spent about 300 LE on arranging transport for myself by using boat across the Nile (5 to 30 LE!). Local transport in buses available at 5 LE (knowledge is power eh ?) if one knows the local customs! 4. Could not contact Mahmoud unless we met up to relieve me of extortionate amounts Of cash in exchange for use of Mahmouds or Abdullah,s car(s) ! ( NETWORK DOWN in need of repair from outside source was the explanation - I had my doubts!) No I did not use an Egyptian sim card preferring to use whatsapp instead! 5. A major concern for me. Self - contained flat located on the 3rd floor, nothing wrong with that. However, NO GUARD RAILS present on the stairs, which if one slipped on the stairs etc it was about 50 feet down to the ground floor which no doubt at the least could lead to a nasty accident worse case scenario - you fill in the missing information. Apply that to parties with young children.......), In closing, Mahmoud's main objective appeared to extract as much money from clients without offering required information to make your stay more enjoyable. Mahmoud's help to his clients leaves a lot to be desired.
