CAPISTRANO PLAYA 410 MENYBER

The Capistrano complex has a wonderful architectural and horticultural design, the apartment basically contained all that might be expected, had a terrace and was convenient for the beach. It was quiet too.

An 85-minute walk to the other end of Nerja to collect the keys, in a heatwave (other apartments used key safes); no clear instructions given to help us find the apartment and the complex is like a warren (it took us 15 minutes); stained bedclothes (though we raided the wardrobe and managed to find what was mostly a clean set); a plastic mattress cover on one of the beds (which is not what you want in a hot, hot climate); no fob to allow us access to the beach through the gardens, so we had a baking walk round the road (though a fob was provided with a couple of days of our holiday left); check-in was 4pm, check out was 10 am - a 6-hour gap - but even though there was a heatwave and we are over 70, we were not allowed to stay in the room for an extra hour or two before departure (our plane wasn't until 8.30pm). Basically, the stay could have been superb; it just seemed there was little consideration given to the guests.

The view

No reception area, steep steps to the beach, need good footwear and after day or night at beach front, definitely need taxi back. Minimum of 7 euro plus for a 2 minute journey.Was lost when arrived no staff there. Rang number for hotel, no english speaking staff. Had to find out how to get to the beach nobody to ask, fobs in bowl was expected to find the gates. Layout of building very confusing. Bar and pool nearby, staff and food very nice. Taxis very expensive for very short journey and will take you the long route if you not aware of where your apartment is. No Supermarket in walking distance, need a taxi. At the end of April, all shuts early, approx 9 o clock. Crazy idea having to pick up apartment keys when you arrive at M1 Boutique hotel and drop off when you leaving, and the hotel is not anyway near apartments. Two single beds for a couple. Hotel did not inform us of any shuttle buses or transfers to airport. You have to book taxi 24hours in advance to get to the airport, which may cost up to 80-100 euro. If you don't book in advance, taxi driver told us it probably be 175 plus euro. Very disappointed that there was nobody to contact during our stay for any informatiom, you are left to work out for yourself which can be very frustrating.

The location, view, balcony. Layout of the apartment and the whole site. Fabulous.

Sheets didn't fit and mattress covers kept coming off. Mattresses not great. No WiFi which we knew but there was WiFi in apartment which we couldn't access. TV channels in German. Need better instructions to find apartment especially at night and no lift access to our floor.
