NEW Cozy and Modern Apartment in the heart of Porto

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this property genuinely raised concerns about both safety and hygiene. On our very first night, the air-conditioning unit in the living room started leaking water directly down the wall onto an electrical outlet hidden behind the TV cabinet. We only discovered it in the morning. Had the leak continued overnight, the consequences could have been far more serious. We immediately cleaned the water, switched off the electricity, reported the issue to the property manager, and also contacted Booking.com. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the manager did not contact us throughout the day. Booking.com itself was unable to reach them. Eventually, I had to personally chase updates regarding the repair before our departure. What made the situation even more alarming was discovering another nearby electrical outlet with a missing protective cover and exposed internal components.

Unfortunately, the problems did not stop there. The apartment showed multiple signs of long-term water damage: swollen flooring, damaged walls with peeling paint and crumbling plaster, visible moisture marks around the bedroom window, and a strong smell coming from a section of the floor near the bathroom. Given the condition of the walls, we genuinely questioned whether mold might be present. The level of cleanliness was also disappointing. Bathroom grout was heavily stained and darkened, the floors throughout the apartment were visibly dirty, and after only a short time walking barefoot indoors our feet were black with dirt. Under the bed sheet we found hairs, including what appeared to be pubic hair, as well as yellow stains on the mattress protector. We also found a used tissue hidden behind the bed. To make matters worse, maintenance materials had been left inside the apartment, including an opened paint container stored next to the hot-water boiler. The property eventually fixed the leaking air-conditioning unit and Booking.com provided partial compensation, but the overall experience left a very negative impression. The apartment appears to suffer from ongoing maintenance issues, poor quality control, and inadequate cleaning standards.
