3Room Penthouse Beach Condo

No hot water! My wife called the owner and her response was yes there’s hot water ❗️no possibility to use washer and dryer because the electricity was turned off and the breaker box was padlocked ❗️ The air conditioner was difficult to control because the location made it difficult to set since the control was set unusually low than normal. No instructions on setting the TV to desired channels ⁉️

The pool

Great sized, clean, comfy beds with very clean sheets. Excellent pool and kids play area

It was beautiful, super close to the beach and main street there with all the local shops. We had a car, and it was like a 2 min drive. Also the swimming was great, we were there 5 times during our 7 day stay. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were comfy. The place was super clean. The balcony had a great view, and we saw an iguana in the trees. There were birds everywhere. I truly recommend this place. My kids, my husband, and I absolutely loved it.

That we did not have access to the washer and dryer, and had to call to have it set up and disconnected.

Let’s start with the positive, the owner stayed correct and handled our refund professionally.

That being said, from the beginning through the end this stay was a disaster. And early pm on day 3 of 4, when we didn’t have any water anymore, we requested the owner to cancel the rest of our stay and get us a refund for the remaining 2 nights. This was granted if we left before 14pm.. which gave us 45min to pack and get the kids ready to go. To summarize the disaster: - On the day of arrival the owner threatened us to cancel the booking if we didn’t pay before arrival. - The owner didn’t use our payment details submitted through booking.com to collect our payment, but insisted using PayPal (for which we need to create an account and pay additional fee). More details below. - Apartment can host 2 families, but parking for the second car cost $15/night (with the parking lot nearly being empty) - For our 4 night stay with 6 people the property provided 4 towel (“you need to bring your own”. The cleaning lady did bring a few extra after us insisting we need towels) - Even if we had brought our towels, using the laundry machine would cost us an additional $20 - Oven listed in the property amities doesn’t work and after first denying it’s part of amenities the owner provided contradicting reasons why we can’t use it - The second day and night the AC didn’t work, which brought the temperature to over 30degrees over night. - The 3rd day a AC mechanic came, tried to fix something, and mentioned that maintenance is way overdue. Soon after he left the AC stopped working again. - From day 1 we didn’t have warm water - the 3rd day we didn’t have any running water - The owner charged us a transfer fee for the refund payment - Besides being on the top floor to call this a apartment a penthouse is setting the wrong expectations; - The door of 1 room only opens halfway because the room is too small for the 2 single beds that were put in. - The kitchen supplies are not enough for 6 people. - (For the locals .. this is a copy of the ConCasa project in Alajuela).
