I awarded one point for the location —it really is good. That’s where the positives end.

I wish I’d trusted all the negative reviews. The photos are absolutely, 100 percent out of date—they were obviously taken right after the renovation was finished. There’s mold everywhere, not just in the bathroom but in the corners of the living-room/kitchen too; dirt, a broken shower hose. There’s no garden—just an untended patch of ground. The walls are peeling and grimy, and the floor is ice-cold (apparently it was simply painted grey, and because the “unit” sits in a separate outbuilding, it’s right on the earth). There’s no key: entry is by a code that never changes from one guest to the next. I felt very unsafe, especially with an abandoned building right behind the wall. Yes, there’s a hair dryer, but it’s so tiny and weak that drying long hair feels risky. Critters crawl in from outside. If you plan to use the freezer, forget it—it’s a solid block of ice. And for some reason there’s a metal garbage bin standing by the TV in the kitchen. All in all, I felt cheated, because this wasn’t the cheapest option when I booked. The host clearly doesn’t care about the interior; no maintenance has been done in ages. Over the past year I’ve booked similar-level places across various European countries—this is the worst, and it definitely doesn’t merit Booking’s three-star rating. We chose not to let it ruin our mood or our experience of beautiful Portugal and Porto, so we booked another place instead. That meant paying again for accommodation I’d reserved way back at the start of March! We notified the host, but he didn’t even ask what happened, let alone apologize. As for compensation—don’t even dream of it.

Location

There was mold on the walls in the bathroom and living room, you could sense the dampness when you get in to the apartment. It was not cleaned well. It really ruined my whole impression. Location is great, check in easy and its quiet.

The check-in and check-out process was very comfortable. The apartment is very well located - close both to city centre and just a stone's throw from Trindade station. The yard/garden was nice and calm, however anyone who stayed in the other apartments within the building could enter at any time so we had to put the curtains down at most times because you don't want random people watch your stuff, clothes or you having a dinner while they pass through to the garden.

It seems the pictures were taken a while ago. From them it seemed like a bright, modern and clean space, but in reality the apartment would deserve a little bit more care. The bed was comfortable and clean, so were the towels, however kitchen utensils felt sticky and spotty. Black mold in the shower and the bathroom in general and we even found (upon arrival) a smashed mosquito on the bathroom wall tiles that no one cared about enough to get rid of. The bedroom was very small, you couldn't properly open your suitcase next to bed. If it sounds like a survival horror, it wasn't, it was okay, but I'm just trying to put into perspective that what was expected from the pictures was not delivered.

Close to the centre, in a not too busy neighbourhood and it has its own terrasse. Very comfortable bed. Coffee shop with pastries at 3 mins distance.

It is quite small, so much that you cannot open a suitcase on the bedroom floor.

Private grassy garden space with a wall of fragrant pink jasmine. Extremely hot water, excellent pressure. Very responsive host/manager. I loved the natural lighting from the front wall of windows but sheer curtains would be a nice addition so you can have natural light and privacy. Excellent wifi. Location! Super central to all the monuments. 2 minutes walking from Trindade Metro (direct to OPO airport) and less than 10 minutes from Sao Bento train station (for further afield day trips).

This rental had not been checked for cleanliness and function prior to my arrival - cleaning service is poor. Badly scratched "non-stick" fry pan - new one delivered w/in 3 hours. Inside of microwave had not been cleaned. (gives uneasy feeling of what else didn’t they bother to clean???) Moldy shower. Poor lighting at work table - someone came by to replace the bulb but found an electrical problem that couldn't be repaired. The outlets near the bed are used for lighting so you can’t charge your phone by the bed - suggest power strip. The true shame of this place is that you cannot have outside airflow w/o flies+mosquitoes entering the apartment - I suggest a screen for at least one door.

It was in a good location near to the city centre. It was quite and no noise from the city traffic. The facility itself was clean with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom.

The bedroom was quite small with the double bed taking up most of the room space.
