Porto Haven - Downtown by the Metro

La decoración de la casa es muy bonita, está muy bien ubicada, cerca del centro y al lado de una parada de metro, el piso se ve que está nuevo y completamente renovado. Pudimos hacer el check-in de madrugada sin problema. Zona tranquila pero cerca del centro. Hay algunos bares cerca para desayunar etc, así como aparcamiento. Se ve una zona segura. La cama era muy cómoda y el sofá cama también.

Es una pena que estando el piso nuevo se tenga que pulir más el tema de limpieza...la campana extractora está llena de polvo y sucia, en las mantas y en el sofá hay manchas, el colchón como la almohadas deberían de tener unas fundas a mayores de los cubridores ya que están algo amarillentas, si el tema de limpieza mejora es una experiencia muy grata alojarse aquí. Por lo demás está perfecto

The location is right next to the metro station Faria Guimarães, around 20 minutes walking distance from the city center. Only 4 metro stations from the bus station Campanhã. The area around is residential, so no crowds of tourists around. The apartment was very clean and provided with all necessities.

For people very sensitive to noise the isolation could have been better - you can hear the noise from the cars passing by on the street outside even with windows closed and the elevator working inside the building. Not a big deal to me personally, didn't affect negatively my experience in any way.

We couldn't get into the room, the smell was too strong and even though we arrived at 3 am, we paid for the room in advance and after 12 hours on the road we preferred to look for another place to stay. The elevator had no partition doors between the cabin and the outer doors and we were afraid of the elevator ride. The morning after, we asked to cancel the reservation when it was clear that we would pay for the night we "wasted" and the booking answer that would make us never use booking again was, after a conversation, according to them, with the owner - negative. In conclusion, we didn't stay even a minute in the room, we announced in the morning that we wouldn't use the room because of the smell in it and yet we received a negative answer. I intend to contact all the authorities in Portugal so that they can check the safety issue of the elevator - hoping that I was wrong.

There was enough space for us. The apartment was clean and tidy. Local transport links are very close along with restaurants, launderette and supermarkets. The location was fantastic for transport, taking you to all parts of Porto easily . The recommendations from our host were spot on. especially where to get good local food.. We will definitely be coming back. Porto is lovely.

I’ve never left a negative review but felt for this one it is worth saying the property was a lot more dirty than photos and the wall was bubbled with damp - we asked for clean towels which were left but these were also marked as were the walls and sofa and bed etc. It was central but for the price we paid (more than others we’d considered) we were disappointed it was a lot more run down than photos etc. When I addressed it after check out the host wouldn’t issue any kind of money back and said our complaints were unfair. We didn’t complain during the stay as all they could do was send new towels (which we asked for) but the damp and marks were something they need to address when guests are not currently staying. Just keep this in mind if you’re weighing up this property or another more run down one at a cheaper price, it isn’t as clean and modern as it seems!
