Oporto Design Attic - Solar da Avenida

Everything was perfect! The building itself was beautiful and located just a few minutes from the city center, which made it very easy to reach everything we wanted to see. The accommodation was very well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Location was ok

All the rest. Avoid at all cost. According to booking.com reviews, we are not the first ones to experience that issue. We arrived late in the evening and had the bad surprise of having no hot water, after some exchange with the host there was no response anymore until the next morning, so impossible to take a hot shower. The next morning they came to “fix” the issue, 3 people did some back and forth for 1h in the accommodation. After 1h, with barely any apology or any compensation of some sort, we were finally able to take a hot shower. We then proceeded to have our day after wasting most of our morning. When we came back late afternoon to the accommodation, what a surprise, no hot water again. We informed the host, after some time someone came but not to fix the water. It was too much for us and we decided to leave the accommodation and find another place. While leaving, not even a word of apology from the host. To recap, terrible service with no basic comfort and terrible behavior of the host. Also, recurrent issue they are facing but not fixing because most likely they don’t care about their customers.

The apartment is in a good location, close to the city centre. The staff was friendly. The bed is comfortable.

The light in the apartment is not optimal. For instance at the kitchen area there is no light if you want to prepare something in the evening. The water has warm - cold fluctuations in the shower and after one shower the second must wait as the water runs cold. Both pillows are too hard.

Property was good and comfortable for our short stay. I wish they provided some essentials like coffee and tea, since there is a coffee machine but no pods it doesn’t make sense to buy pods for 1 day stay. The linens were very comfortable and the bed also. The terrace is nice and spacious, the view is okay. You can hear the wind a bit at night since it’s an attic bit it’s not an issue. Mariana was lovely and she attended to everything that we needed, also gave us amazing tips for dinner close by.

The neighborhood can get a bit sketchy at times but the main road the property is on, is beautiful as well as the building itself is amazing. No coffee or tea in the property, sadly.

Property is located on a very nice neighborhood, bed was comfy, nice terrace, nice coffee maker.

The flat was at the third floor without lift, it was a little bit smelly of bleach, a bath robe was stained but they promptly changed it, mouldy area within shower tiles, no wardrobe or drawers… for the price we paid it I expected much more to be honest.

A small cabinet or shelves to store clothes could be a great upgrade to this room...

We liked the location and the quietness of the building during the night. There is a digital code for entering the building and the apartment, so it's easy to access. We liked the design of the apartment and the big bathroom.

We had a problem with mosquitos. The first night, I couldn't sleep; I thought it was just that day, but in the end, all three days were affected by mosquitos entering the room from the outside, even with windows closed. There were no window screens that could help improve the situation. I tried to keep windows closed, but still, mosquitos entered. When I told the host on the last day, she said I should tell her before so she could manage with a mosquito repellent. She was correct; I could tell her before, but I think part of the cleaning means checking about this sanitary situation first; I found quite a giant spider, too. And mosquitos weren't just 1-3, there were 15-20 per night! I had 5 bits on my face, and after days, they are still visible on my face now. If I had told her before, no one could have prevented me from having those bites on my face the first day. And I don't like this way of not apologizing for the situation. The terrace smelled bad, maybe from the pigeons coming all day. We couldn't stay on the terrace because of the mosquitos, the bad smell, and the noise constructions next to the apartment during the day, so it was pointless to have a balcony but not use it, so we chose this place. Last thing, we couldn't use the kitchen because of a smell coming from the furniture shutters, specifically the one that had the microwave in there.
