Grisogono Palace Heritage Residence

The location and the fact it is a UNESCO listed property in the very heart of the old town directly opposite the Diocletian Palace.

Booking.com provides an inaccurate description of parking facilities. There is no ‘valet parking’ & there is no ‘parking garage’. There are car parks around Split and the one recommended to us by our host near the tunnel cost us €48 to park in overnight. The next complication is transporting your luggage (we had two 23kg suitcases) and opted to leave them in the car and carry our bare essentials in our backpacks to the apartment because it would have been very challenging to try and drag & carry them over the town cobblestones and up the narrow staircase to the apartment.

Be sure to confirm details. We read in advance that our luggage would be held on our last day (because we had a late plane). Our wonderful host Katya helped us find a place elsewhere that stored luggage, but we had to pay a fee.

The Grisogono Palace apartment has the most desirable location in Split. It looks down on the main square across from the Cathedral and entrance to Diocletian's Palace. It is so convenient to everything in the city. The apartment is wonderfully furnished, and offers a very large living area, separate bedroom, and kitchenette. One feels a bit like nobility staying here. Katja met us at the nearest city gate and took us the short distance to the apartment. She is a most gracious hostess. A full breakfast buffet is included at a nearby restaurant. Truly a memorable stay and excellent value !!

Absolutely nothing

We stayed at the Grisogono Palace Apartment on the final night of our trip to Croatia. It is located in Old Town, Split and provided the perfect ending to our trip. We could look out our window and see the celebrations going on in Peristil Square.

Parking was difficult. The posting said that we could easily find parking for $10 nearby without a reservation. That was not true. We circled Old Town for about an hour before finding parking on the street about a mile from our room. It was worth the extra effort, but we would have liked to have known that ahead of time.

The location was amazing! We loved having the whole apartment and being able to open the windows and watch the madness in the square or listen to the live music at night. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Katia was very helpful in getting us checked in and out with flexible times. She was very sweet!

While most of the apartment seemed pretty clean, cleanliness of the floors could be improved. They were pretty dirty/dusty throughout the whole apartment.

It is a beautiful apartment in historical building. Set on main square and although you can sometimes not get out the door onto the street the square has an unless array of entertainment that you can see and hear from window. Great bakery and ice cream steps away from the door. Comfortable bed.

Thought we might cook at little as it is hard to go out to eat all the time. Were told we were not allowed to because of the ceilings. Would like to have used the safe when we were biking. Could not figure it and we were told we did not need to use it. Very steep narrow stairs to apartment.

The location is incredible. Inside the walls of the palace overlooking the palace entrance. Beautiful antique ceiling and windows.

Would have been helpful to know the parking is remote and you must carry in your bags.

I booked pretty quickly when I was booking for my one night in Split. Therefore, I didn't read the description and mainly looked at reviews and price. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact it's in a UNESCO world heritage site, has a window out to the square. Also, there was rehearsal for Tosca that we were able to watch from our window, once in a lifetime experience!!

Really nothing that could have been better.

The apartment was large, clean, and exceptionally beautiful. It has a very large living room, newly updated bath, kitchen and quiet bedroom. The air conditioning worked well and was appreciated after warm afternoons of sightseeing. The hostess, Katia, met us with the key was very nice and made arrangements to have a gentleman help us with luggage when we vacated. He was also very nice and helpful—an absolutely necessary service because of the stairs. The breakfast was close by (end of block). Staff was welcoming. One could order off menu for an omelette for instance. They served fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh pastries and breads, as well as a great selection of meats, vegetables and fruit.

There were 15 steps leading to our apartment door that we were not expecting. The steps were sturdy as well as the hand rail. We were very careful! Had I known I probably would not have reserved, but all turned out fine bc the apt was so beautiful and literally in center of everything
