Host Wise - Bright & Contemporary Flat - Ace Location

NEVER, NEVER AGAIN! For anyone planning a vacation with Host Wise — don’t do it if you want a good and peaceful holiday. First of all, when I arrived in Porto by plane around 7 PM, I noticed an email sent a few hours earlier informing me that there were "structural issues" with my property and that it would not be possible to check in. Only after I called them did they start looking for a new apartment for me. After a long search and all the related hassle, I finally checked in around 9 PM. At check-in, no information was given about whether the situation was temporary or permanent. The next day, Host Wise contacted me again, saying I was obligated to move back to the original apartment because it was now ready for check-in and no longer had any issues, as they confirmed. So, my family, including a small child, and I moved again to the original apartment. As soon as we opened the door, we saw a bucket with a towel on the floor and water dripping from the ceiling. It was very wet and cold inside. I contacted them again, but they said they could only help the next day. The following day, a new apartment was provided, and we moved yet again. If you think the story ends there — it doesn’t. The code to open the lockbox for the new apartment was incorrect. We had to wait several more hours until they provided the correct code. The new apartment was also not in the area we originally booked, but at that point, we just wanted to finally get some rest during our vacation.

Great communication from hosts. Great location. A nice small modern apartment.great WiFi etc.

Not clean on arrival. We had to vacuum and dust/wipe down surfaces throughout the entire apartment. Dead mosquitos on the ceiling and walls with previous guests' blood stains. Broken appliances in the bathroom (which were attended to quickly by hosts on notification). Hosts were insistent that they only provide a 'starter' pack to guests no matter how long their stay. This meant that we had to purchase things like rubbish bags and extra hand wash as we stayed for one month and we're not provided more than one rubbish bag etc.

By chance a guy from Hostwise was present to show us where the keys were located. Without him, it would have been difficult to find the safeboxe.

The flat has a lift and is just next to the metro! There’s not too much noise at night as it is in a quiet neighborhood just out of the old town. Everything is so easily accessible with the metro. The apartment is clean and has all the things you need. The airconditioning has been a highly appreciated feature as well!

I thought the apt had 2 separate bedrooms, while in fact it has a bedroom with a bed for two persons AND a sofa that’s used as a second bed in the kitchen/living room. The sofa was a little uncomfortable to sleep on.
