STUPENDO- Two Rooms, patio With refreshing Pond-Center-Air conditioning

The interior was quiet, private, very clean and nicely decorated. There was a Delta-Q coffee machine with enough coffee for an espresso each for the four of us for the first morning. The kitchen had all the utensils to prepare food. There was no food or condiments at all when we arrived but there is a grocery store (which had the coffee pods) and the Mercado di Arroios round market a few blocks away to supply our needs. Also many small mini-markets and coffee places nearby. The patio with the bubbling wading pond was refreshing after a long day of walking and shaded sitting area was comfortable. There are 4 televisions - one in each bedroom and the other two in the living room areas. It was well located for public transport. Carlos was there to welcome us and gave very helpful suggestions. He was very easy to communicate with through booking.com and we also had his number. Of all the places to have beer or wine, our favourite was O’Malta Bistro three minutes walk away R. Carvalho Araujo 24 with great service and nice selection of beer and wine. We also loved the Portuguese restaurant Quionga , Rue Herois a minute walk from O’Malta. Great fish. We bought a three day transport pass each which seemed expensive at the time but we would highly recommend even if you don’t use all the discount entries. It simplifies things.

Just a few tips. If you have any sort of walking instability, there are narrow stairs to the main level so you just have to be careful. On the entry level there is a sitting area, one bedroom and the main large bathroom with tub (the tub had no security handle) and shower. You need to descend to the lower level for the kitchen area, another living room, the patio area, another larger bedroom with a much smaller but adequate bathroom with shower. Toilet tissue was limited so we bought more (we could have asked for more but didn’t want anyone entering the apartment while we were out.) There was a very warm duvet which we found too hot so we used the duvet cover and the small blankets available so it worked out well. There was no book available with instructions on how to use the kitchen appliances, or information on the local guidelines are for recycling. That would be a nice addition. It is a safe area to stay but not very upmarket. The apartment is nicer than the area. Using public transport we spent the days visiting other areas but being older wanted to spend evenings closer to home.

- for a family of 5 there was not enough warm water from time to time - it takes some time to get to the "nice" infrastructure of the city (center) - one time we got a problem with electricity, but it was solved fast by the host

We really liked the space and the host was very responsive and helpful. When we asked for more garbage bags and laundry soap (we stayed for a week) Carlos brought some right away.

There was a sewage smell coming from basement pipes. I think this is common in older apartments.
