Casa Ginja - Checkinhome

The apartment is well located in the heart of Alfama, really central and surrounded by restaurants, shops and also one nice Miradouro just 5 min walking away. The tram 28 is very close. The property itself was ok, sufficient to spend a couple of days there (we didn’t use the kitchen at all)

The stairs are a bit steeper than I thought but it’s just one floor. The main thing is that the only room that has windows is the living room. So the bedroom, toilet and kitchen have no windows. Because of that, I feel like you have to sleep with the bedroom door open and the toilet had a very bad smell after a couple of days cause the air is not circulating properly. The apartment is small but is good enough for a couple of days in Lisbon. Wouldn’t say perfect, but it was okay.

Muy decepcionada, las camas y las almohadas y el sofá cama son muy incomodas, te das la vuelta en la cama y escuchas todos los muelles los ventiladores hacen un ruido increíble, el baño huele a tuberías y olor a meado y la habitación no tiene ventana y huele mucho a humedad, no lo recomiendo, encima entramos una hora mas tarde. Sinceramente buscaros otro sitio porque no vas a poder descansar bien

There was unfortunately nothing we liked about the property.

We are extremely disappointed with this property. For context, we initially booked this accommodation as a second option recommended by Booking.com after our original booking was canceled by the property at the last minute. With our departure to Lisbon scheduled for the following day, we did not have sufficient time to thoroughly review other options, therefore, we went with this one. Firstly, the property was not clean upon our arrival, which was disappointing given the expectations we had based on the listing. Please see the photos for reference. Secondly, given the cost of over €3,000 for a one-month stay, we anticipated a high standard of quality, but the condition of the apartment fell significantly short. For instance, we encountered a serious issue where the bathroom door became stuck and could not be opened for six hours. This could have had severe consequences for someone with specific health needs or medications stored inside. Additionally, we believe the price we paid was disproportionate to the value of the accommodation. For comparison, the place we are now staying in is not only in better condition but also larger, modern, and much more reasonably priced. It includes a €40 cleaning fee for an entire month, whereas the previous property charged €67 for cleaning alone, despite its poor condition. While we appreciate that we were able to cancel the apartment after the first night, we are extremely disappointed that we had to pay over €150 for a property that fell so far below expectations. For this price, we could have stayed in a much better accommodation. We are particularly concerned about accommodations listed on the platform that do not align with the quality and conditions portrayed in their photos or justify their pricing. We hope this feedback will contribute to improving the experience for future guests and help others avoid similar situations, especially those considering a long-term stay at this property.

Location was great - enjoyed the live music every night from the Restaurant next door!
