Oak Valley Flats Bairro Alto

Comfortable apartmant. Great kitchen, washer AND DRYER!, nice living room, comfortable beds, great view of the action on the street below. Rua da Atalaia is the Bourbon Street of Lisbon(without the Jazz). Barrio Alto, is a happening place in Lisbon, and at Oak Valley Flats, you're in the center of the Barrio Alto universe. Crowd noise is mitigated by sound proof balcony doors.

We own a condo in the Algarve and were traveling with four 23kg suitcases of supplies for our condo with us. (When we arrive in Lisbon from the US, we like to spend a couple nights in Lisbon before driving to the Algarve.) The 3rd floor walk up was brutal. VERY STEEP and VERY NARROW. I thought I was going to have a heart attack by the time I got the 4th suitcase up to the room. AND YES I KNEW IT WAS A 3RD FLOOR WALKUP! I honestly didn't think it would be that bad. IT WAS! So if your older(I'm 62) think twice if you have a lot of heavy luggage.

The flat is in excellent location if you want to party! For this part of the city the apartment is spacious and very clean. The host was really polite and nice.

The extremely convenient location comes with its downsides as well - party outside your door until 3-4 in the morning 365 days of the year. Narrow staircase to climb up to the flat, which was narrower than some of our suitcases. The AC was from the movable units, so one end had to be looking outside, hence the door to the street open during the loud parties if you want to use the AC. Not enough plugs around the flat and very old creaking (in a kind of romantic way) wooden floors. No soundproof between the bedrooms and the rest of the house - on the contrary both bedrooms have glass-less windows to the rest of the flat.
