Rua Augusta Dream Apartment

Perfect location especially for first time visitors to Lisbon. Restaurants and shops right on your doorstep. Apartment is on a pedestrianalised street. Easy to get around town. Metro station within 2mins walk. Got an Uber from airport and they dropped you off less than 50 yards away and just as easy to get picked up to take you back to airport. Good size apartment, had pretty much everything you needed. Although right in the middle of busy tourist area, it was not overly noisy. Straightforward check-in. Instructions for the apartment amenities was really informative and helpful. Wifi was fast and reliable. Extra blankets and pillows available. Comfortable beds and sofa. Kitchen has all the basic cutlery and utensils, bottle opener etc.. Washer/dryer a bonus, we made good use of that! Umbrellas also handy as it rained a bit on a few of the days we stayed.

The only negatives, which is not a reflection on the host. The apartment is in an old building so there are some things guests should be made aware, the stairs up to the apartment from ground, are quite steep.The lighting in the common stairwell is automatic but the sensors don't always come on until you've reached the top of each section, so can be nerve wracking as no natural light and especially if you have mobility problems or have young children. Dragging suitcases up and down the stairs was not easy, and we are fairly fit people! The smell of the drains both inside the apartment as well as in the surrounding streets is also off-putting, especially on a rainy day, which seems to be a common problem in this part of town. We got a couple of air fresheners for the apartment, that seemed to do the trick during our stay but these were quite expensive locally in the Pingo Doce supermarket (€6/8 each), so advice maybe to take some with you if cheaper to get these at home. The only other thing is there is no wardrobe or shelving for clothing in either of the bedrooms, as this is in the hallway area outside the bathroom, which is not that convenient and quite awkward to get too as right next to the door. This is not too much of a problem for a short stay if just a couple or small family sharing but could be impractical if staying as a group or for a longer period.

No shower head, water didn’t stay hot long enough. Broken mirror needs replacing. Sofa stained needs cleaning.

Location was perfect. Host did everything right. Wonderful morning coffee. Rua Augusta is a very busy pedestrian walkway, but the windows were so good the room was entirely quiet. Much more spacious than a typical hotel room, and modernized for comfort.

Honestly, have to stretch to say anything less than positive. Only item of note was shower door not fully sealed, so a bit of puddling onto the bathroom floor, but nothing extreme or unmanageable. All else was very good.
