Paihia Central Apartments

The place was booked by someone else already and we were never notified until we got to the apartments at 8pm New Zealand time and found that other people were staying there at the same dates we booked. I am still waiting for my full refund and haven’t received any notification about the progress of the refund.

Nice apartment, the kitchen was really well equipped. There are two bedrooms, each with their own en suite. There's a large balcony overlooking the town towards the sea (although it is frosted glass, not the clear panels shown in the pictures). An easy walk to the town centre.

The climb to the penthouse apartment is much more than expected - 61 fairly narrow, steep wooden steps that are overgrown by bushes & I suspect would be slippery when wet. It's not an easy task to get luggage there! Lack of storage in the bedrooms, neither has any drawer spaces, one has a small area for hanging a few items, the other has enough for 2 hangers. The parking area is very steep & if your car doesn't have a fair bit of ground clearance, it could cause problems.

The stairs to the property were an effort. There were no instructions about using the TV.

Beautiful little apartment, well equipped and great view

We struggled to get the door locked and unlocked sometimes. The property description should have been more specific about the number of stairs leading up to the property. I am sure the description had said 4 flights but it was 6 flights and 61 steps in total.

Great location, clean and comfortable.

When we arrived the apartment was very musty smelling as was the fridge. Took several hours to air the place out. Very little to no basic staples provided . Definitely need a certain level of fitness to climb the stairs to the apartment . Very expensive for what we received.

We loved the size of the space, the two bathrooms, the view, the comfort, the ease of settling in and using everything, the proximity to the shops, restaurants and cafes, and the peacefulness of the property. We also loved how responsive the owners were when the showers wouldn't heat up one of the evenings and how easy it was to sort out! And even though we didn't love hauling our bags up the stairs because we are so unfit, the view and the tranquility made it worth the climb. We would 100% return and do it all again!

The apartment was super clean, well equipped and spacious. The balcony is big enough to have a nice bbq if you like. The location is great - few minutes walk into town and to the beach.

Didn't receive the day of check-in email, which meant I had to call for the lock box code. The hot water had been unplugged and not plugged back in by our arrival, so cold showers on day one
