Cattaneo Arena Apartaments

Very informative, welcoming host. Spacious, clean, bright apartment that was easy to use with comfort. Fabulous location right in the thick of things in Verona.

The apartment got quite noisy in the morning around 7am—a good deal of noise both from the street and from upstairs tenants. It's still a great find, so maybe just go prepared with ear plugs. It bothered me less on morning 2 so it's also something I think you adapt to (we used to have upstairs neighbors but haven't in a couple of years so are out of practice tuning out the noise). We changed our plan to not need the washing machine, but if we HAD needed it...I don't think there was detergent for the washing machine. Also wish they had enough coffee pods on hand for the duration of the stay.

Nice Building on a nice street. Spacious apartment. Well organized and conveniently furnished. Very functional kitchen with big refrigerator, stove, oven - completely furnished. Lots of space for toiletries in bathrooms and for clothing in bedrooms. Good for families as rooms each have a bathroom. Very convenient location for City access, so great if you are without vehicle. The kitchen and living area are very quiet, and we did not notice any other building noise from inside the apartment. Good mattresses and the bedding was nice.

The cups and silverware in the kitchen were stained and did not seem very clean so we washed everything before using. Both bathrooms shower/tub had mold. One bathroom with just shower was really unclean so no one used it, and the one with a tub was cleaner but only had a very low placed handheld to shower with and we were advised that the hot water tank would not provide enough water to actually fill the tub so we never used it. So really no comfortable option for bathing which would be a negative for a long stay - for our short stay, it was just an inconvenience. They only provide one set of towels per person for a 3 night stay - this was stingy. Also, charged us €100 extra after original booking, for a child under 2, who required no extra bedding or furnishings. Bedrooms both face the street and people noise is considerable - even with windows closed - so ear plugs or headphones would be a good idea. Most annoying was the fact that we were not informed that the apartment is located inside a restricted access zone for vehicles. We were clear that we had a car and were given info on where to park, and were in communication with host right up to arrival, but she never thought to mention this. Upon arrival she told us that we were going to get a ticket for driving to the apartment. The only parking is about a 10 minute walk and costs €18 per 24 hours. I am surprised that no other Booking review addressed this situation as it is about an €80 ticket. The cleaning fee for the exit (none during 3 night stay) was 20% of rental fee which I felt was excessive, especially considering the limited towel service and the condition of the bathrooms and kitchenware.

Very spacious, quiet apartment near the Arena. Kitchen was well equipped, and proprietor was responsive and helpful with recommendations for great restaurants.
