Fortamu - Tembo House

This place is amazing! Ziro and Amina took great care of us. Ziro cooked us delicious food every night and morning and they kept the place immaculate. They were also able to organize an excursion to the marine park and found us reliable and affordable tuktuks for getting around town. Isabella was super responsive to anything we needed and made the whole experience (from airport pick up to departure) seamless. The grounds are serene - like an Instagram dream - with your own private beach. We could have stayed twice as long.

Our stay at the Tembo house in Watamu was extremely pleasant. The accommodation impressed us with its artistic design, filled with summer details that created a relaxing atmosphere. The view of the beach and oceans was spectacular, providing us with a true oasis of peace. We want to particularly highlight Chef Ziro, whose culinary skills amazed us. Each dish was a genuine gastronomic experience, combining local ingredients with international influences in a very authentic way. His attention to our preferences added an extra touch of personalization. In summary, this beach house is the perfect place to unwind, and the combination of artistically designed accommodation, beautiful surroundings, and exceptional culinary experiences makes it an unforgettable destination.

Everything was amazing. Location is perfect. Villa is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Communication with the landlord is good. Isabella is very supportive and replies within 3o minutes. Special thanks to Ziro, cook, cleaner, local guide, who makes our stay as comfortable as possible.

Location fare from nearest food shop and we had to supply our own drinking water. No means of closing off/ secure the livingroom and it got noisy at times as we were next to the kids pool

The WiFi

Tembo was in the beautiful setting of Fortamu resort/complex, right on the beach. The grounds & the two pools were exceptionally maintained. The accommodation itself was spacious, beautifully decorated & well equipped. It had easy access into Watamu town for cafes, shops & restaurants. Ziro, the housekeeper, who was really lovely, was on hand for anything we needed from shopping to calling a taxi - he also had a hot meal waiting for us when we arrived. Isabella, the owner was always prompt in answering any questions we had. We absolutely loved Tembo & hope to return one day.

Fortamu - Tembo House is an amazing Kenyan coast experience. The round forts on the white beach surrounded by palm trees are a sight to behold. The apartment is spacious, open and breezy, with lots of places to lounge in style. Ziro, the house chef and butler, took our stay to the next level with his wonderful cooking, kind help and big smile. The place has a private beach with sunbeds and three pools. The view of the coastline and the islands dotting it are amazing. All main sights (Turtle Watch, Snake Farm, Mida Creek) and restaurants/bars (Ocean Sports!) can be reached by affordable tuktuk in minutes (Saidi was our driver). Watamu feels like a very safe and laid-back place full of friendly people. Our family will remember it fondly.
