The Storyhouse Gathering

Great house with lots of room for big groups. The location is ideal for exploring Chester and for driving out to Wales.

The road is noisy but we did know about this and took ear plugs.

The property was fantastic value for money. 5 bedrooms, 2 were en suite. Kitchen, complete with fridge, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, cooker. There’s not a lot more you could ask for!

Unfortunately the beds weren’t comfortable at all, and the pillows were even worse (definitely bring your own pillow if you can!!). But we can’t really complain for one night at this price. The traffic was noisy but that’s to be expected on a main road. We would stay again.

The set up for getting in without the need for an agent was amazing, and the space was good. There were 3 bathrooms and a separate toilet downstairs and good choice of bedrooms as only 3 of us, with it sleeping 11 or so

No garden but we knew that beforehand, as well as the creaky floorboards, and noisy doors and the position by a main road but we were well aware and the property suited our needs just fine for the one night. Limited equipment to a degree in the kitchen, no 'utensils' to cook with it in the 2 saucepans, and no dishwasher tablets but could have been an oversight. Beds bit soft for our preference.

5mins walk to to town so we could explore and be back Easily. Didn't need the car once we arrived. good sized rooms

The doors, stairs & floors were all very creaky so if someone got up in the night it would wake others up. No storage space for food. no washing machine. needs secondary glazing to reduce road noise. couldn't have back door or windows open due to number of smokers in adjacent buildings using the shared rear space - guess not a problem if you smoke
