Nonna Mafalda House

Nonna Mafalda House was just far enough away from the city centre to avoid the bustle, but close enough to city sights. The apartment was a lovely original style Catania apartment; high ceilings, huge windows - it was a joy to stay there! OUr host was very helpful and responsive.

Noting really. everything we needed was there, including a large 24 hour public car park right around the corner!

Very large apartment, fully equiped kitchen. Nice area, close to shops and all necessary facilities. There is a farmer's market 2 min from the accomodation with very good products.

A bit loud from the street noise, for sensitive people. Bring ear plugs if you know you can only sleep in deep quiet.

Spacious, centrally located Apartment

Very noisy street, poor sound insulation of the windows. Our car got towed away after parking it where the owner had recommended to park: be careful there is a market on the square on Sunday morning!

The appartment is nice and clean and the hosts were available to meet us and to even let us check in earlier in the afternoon which was greatly appreciated. Their daughter speaks english and is easily available by whatsup. The appartment offers paper towels, toilet paper and wipes. The wifi was good and the a/c very quiet which was a plus.

We were disappointed with a few things, firstly that the appartment states 2 bathrooms however the second one is on the second floor and you have to access it by a small steep staircase. (It seems like it has been added to an area outside the appartment itself. The set up is not convient for 2 couples who chose this place specifically to have their own bathroom. The 3 seperate bedrooms are not made available, upon your entry you chose one and the other one is locked. We have one guest fall ill, he therefore had to sleep on the sofa because the room was not available which could have been ok but there are no linens available. There are motion detectors in the bedroom therefore the lights are disturbing for people who sleep light. We like to book an appartment because after travelling for 3 weeks we prefer to cook our own meals after a long day visiting. If this is what you are looking for also please note that the kitchen is not fully equipped under North American Standards. We had 2 wine glasses, 3 bowls, 4 plates, 1 cutting knife and very little cooking tools. There is no table cloth and the large "dining room" offers 2 working desks back to back as the dining table. The area is geared to the business class more than to leasure travelers, it is very noisy and there is a daycare just next door. Because we felt that the description of the appartment did not meet our expectations we ask for a 33% rebate, we stayed for 4 nights. No refund was offered by the host who mentioned that we should have asked for more dishes etc however we do feel that we are on vacation and do not have to ask for what the property states they offer. The host implied that we had left the appartment dirty, left the a/c and lights on. The appartment was not left dirty, it was left in a normal condition of after use of 4 adults for 4 nights. We may have forgotten an a/c in one of the rooms, this is a possibility.

Everything was excelent and we spend a great time there. The host was very kind.
