Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war flott. Auch in der Nacht als wir ärztliche Hilfe brauchten. Die Terrasse was das Highlight. Die Möbel sind zwar schon etwas… Direkt vor der Tür ist an 6 Tagen die Woche ein großer Markt. Am Abend verwandelt sich das Gebiet in openair Restaurants.

DerWohn-Schlaf-Küche-Raum ist nicht groß, aber ausreichend. Wir sind mit kleinem Gepäck gereist aber die Stiege ins Dachgeschoss ist schon wirklich steil. Schade das uns nicht mitgeteilt wurde, dass noch Kurtaxe gezahlt werden musste (5 Tage x 2 Personen =20€

The apartment is cosy and lovely. The best thing about it is for sure the roof top terrace. Located in the heart of Catania and very close to both bus and train station, it is the perfect starting point to discover the city and the region! We felt at home immediately. The market downstairs sells delicious (and cheap!) fresh fruit and veggies from the region. Enjoy your coffee, brioche&granita at the chiosco just in front of the door to start the day!

We didn't mind at all but actually liked it - but note that the apartment is above Catania's largest market place and that there are many bars around, as well as a Piazza popular with street musicians. It is a rather busy and noisy area, though it's fun to watch the people from above!

I notified the host that I would be arriving late. My travels this day were greater than six hours. I found my way to the address provided by Booking.com,Via Bacardi. There was no apparent bell to ring, so I chose one. The response was ‘one moment, please’. I waited. No one came. Then a young woman came to the door to walk her dog. By this time, I was speaking to the hostness. She did not speak English, however, the young woman did. I gave her my phone. She informed me that this was not the correct address and that I had to go to number 13 Via Gemmenlarro. As parking is difficult, I left my car and dragged my carry-on and backpack to this address. Again, the hostness tried to explain where to find the key, which I finally understood. The first key opened into a courtyard piled with debris. It was filthy. I proceeded up the stairs to a point where there was no lighting and the stairs took on abrupt turn. I tripped twice carrying my luggage. The last flight of stairs were exterior and exposed. Upon entering, I immediately realized this was a mistake. It was dirty and rundown. It would be OK for a teenager travelling Europe, but not me. Although the sheets were clean, the other bedding could’ve been purchased 20 years ago at a secondhand store. The bedding was damp. It took a full day to get the heat pump to dry out the room. The heat pump put out very little heat and it appeared not to be cleaned for some time. The bathroom was cramped with broken floor tiles. There was barely room to sit on the toilet. The shower stall was too small to have a proper shower and the hot water ran out in less than a minute. The kitchen utensils were inferior, and the dish rag was dirty, as well as the sponge. The hostness told me that I would be in the middle of the daily market, but what she did not tell me was that I would also be in the centre of the nightclub area. Partying went on into the night.

The description of the apartment does not include any information on the building, street and neighborhood. The apartment is located in a very dirty and troubling building and street. As two girls travelling alone, we definitely DID NOT FEEL SAFE to stay at the property.

A very great location! The building itself might not suit everyone's expectations or taste but felt safe and loved being in the heart of Catania!
