"This accommodation exceeded my expectations."

9.0

The location was incredibly close to a litany of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. Well worth the price. No complaints. I'd highly recommend this stay to anyone visiting Chicago.

"Beautiful, spacious home, in a lively neighborhood and close to amenities, but still feels serene!"

9.0

Great central location; just off the main strip but it was super quiet and peaceful. Lovely calming view of the avenue to the front, and a lovely decking area to the back. Close to the Northalsted strip with its lively gay bars, stores and diners, but still quiet and peaceful. And just ten minutes stroll from Wrigley Field, where we went along to our first baseball game. Also short stroll to Lakeside and lots of great breakfast/brunch places, as well as L train and bus stops into the city - but also close enough that an Uber/Lyft was around $20 into the city, so very convenient.

No complaints at all. We requested a later check-out than the planned time as our flight home was not until evening. This was fine and we stayed on; the only thing that could have been improved was that the host didn't confirm we had a later check-out available, so we weren't able to pop out to get a coffee in case the cleaners arrived and we needed to leave. But that's a really small thing and overall the stay was excellent.

"Gorgeous home in a great neighborhood"

10.0

Beautiful space, great, quiet neighborhood (2 blocks from Wrigley). Comfortable beds, full kitchen, it is up a flight of stairs (no elevator)- didn’t bother us.

The only thing I’d say is that there is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs by the front door. It was just me and my son, so he slept upstairs on the couch because he didn’t want to be by himself downstairs. But the couch was very comfortable and he slept great!

"Poor. Do not stay at 820 W. Newport. Do not use Booking.com"

4.0

Nothing says "welcome to Chicago" like an army of rats and dead mice on the sidewalk in front of 820 W. Newport. Once inside the building we were treated to an optically, mesmerizing leopard print carpeted stairwell that subconsciously invoked smells of the Lincoln Park Zoo. The lights were burned out on the porch and on the landing and despite the instructions asking all guests to lock the door, it was often unlocked when we arrived home at night. We felt like we were walking into our own "Dateline" roulette. Once inside the apartment the pleasantly sterile décor was refreshing considering the "Tower of Terror" like experience just getting from the street to the safety of the 2nd floor entrance to the apartment. Despite being listed as a 2 Bed, 2 Sofa Bed property, there were only 2 beds (one of which is a full size bed in a room the size of a closet) and 2 couches; the couches were not big enough for sleeping. When the Booking.com Partner, MJ, was contacted regarding the sofa beds, we were told we had to share beds since there were only three of us. Not any place in the listing was that mentioned, nor should that be expected considering the listing being for 2Bd/2 Sofa Bed. The shower pan held water which was quite repulsive when you realized the hair tangled on your feet was from a pervious renter. When attempting to sit on the back deck, our nostrils were filled with the pungent smell of Chicago trash wafting through the alley, I am told you get used to this, but on a warm weekend it was bad. I would hesitate before renting from this property and would not recommend anyone rent through Booking.com. We are having to go to arbitration due to the property being falsely advertised. On a positive note, the location is fantastic and walking to Wrigley was easy despite the rat infested sidewalks.

"I loved the balcony and kitchen area. I wish the booking would have came with a least one parking spot or pass with the"

Love very open floor concept,

Location is safe but hard to find parking, everything is residential and street parking is on 2 hr max. Parking apps aren’t reliable around the area nightly without strong possibility of paying a lot for parking in lots.

"We had an absolutely fabulous stay and would not hesitate to book MJ’s place again when we’re in Chicago!"

10.0

What a great location and stunning apartment! The apartment was extremely close to shops and restaurants and about an 8 min walk to the train and wriggly field. Communication with MJ was fantastic. It was beautifully decorated and just about the cleanest vacation rental I’ve ever stayed in.

I can’t think of anything we did not like but I would note that there are quite a few stairs to get into the apartment, for anyone who may have mobility issues. Also, the intercom on the lower level would sometimes make clicking sounds but it didn’t disturb us very much.
