El Mercadal

No només està molt ben situat, sinò que està molt ben decorat i cuidat. El propietari, en Jaume, és molt amable i atent. Ens hem trobat com a casa i no ens ha faltat res. Els ventiladors i el 'pinguí' d'aire condicionat han estat super, en un apartament que ja és fresc de per si, per les parets gruixudes vers l'exterior. Realment un espai molt recomanable i ample al bell mig de Cardona per gaudir d'uns dies en família.

From the moment we booked, the communication was spot-on. The host reached out days in advance via WhatsApp to make sure the room was set up exactly as we wanted – a small gesture that made a big difference. The location is superb, and the room itself was beautifully presented with thoughtful touches everywhere: an espresso machine with capsules, plenty of towels, and charming design details inspired by the neighbouring ancient church (which the host happily explained). The balcony and air coolers were perfect for relaxing, and parking was doable – free spaces some 8 minutes walk away, plus the option to temporarily park right outside for unloading.

Not really a “dislike”, but worth noting: the apartment is an open-plan unit with no doors except for the bathroom. For a family of six, that means you’ll need to plan a bit around changing clothes after showers. Still, the comfort, hospitality, and location more than made up for it.

Excellent communications with the apartment owner. He is very friendly and lives in the adjoining apartment. This is a lovely apartment with a balcony overlooking the cathedral door and it was lovely to watch the swifts coming and going Part of the bedroom actually shares part of the cathedral wall. The kitchen area had everything we needed. Please note that there is a dishwasher but no clothes washing machine. The bed, bedding and towels were all very good quality. The shops and restaurants are within a few meters from the apartment and the castle/parador is just a short walk away. We were able to park our motorbike in a part of a secure garage for a small fee. All in all, a very comfortable stay here and would definitely recommend.

This is just an observation for potential visitors to this apartment and is definitely not a complaint: the apartment is on a split level and is accessed by steps and then stairs and therefore not suitable for folk with mobility issues. It's a great shower.....but it is impossible to use without getting the floor wet!

Easy to find and access apartment at the very heart of Cardona old town. Host is very welcoming and helpful. Apartment has everything you would need including basic things in kitchen and bathroom. Room layout is very clever. As a big bonus they had umbrellas available at the hallway, we sure needed these.
