Old City Apartment

A perfect place for a long stay (two weeks for us). We only saw our hosts on the day of our arrival, but they were both kind and helpful. Communications were good throughout our stay (not that we had many questions). The apartment was ideally located in the old part of Funchal, a stone's throw from the bus terminals, taxi stand, cable car, and supermarkets. The kitchen was well-equipped, the living room/dining room area was spacious, and the two bedrooms were perfect for two people each. The sofa could even be converted into a bed if one of us wished to use it to sleep by themselves. We definitely hope to be able to stay here again the next time we come to Funchal.

Santa Maria Street is home to many restaurants -- because the two bedrooms face the street, early sleepers may be inconvenienced by the noise below. However, Funchal is a quiet city and things tend to quiet down by 11 p.m.

Very good location, within easy reach of restaurants and attractions. Would use the property again.

Found the bed very hard, had to pad it out to get a good nights sleep.

The location is great, right in the heart of Funchal on one of the most crowded streets in the area. Very close to a lot of restaurants, stores, main boulevard.

A bit noisy at night as the apartment is above some restaurants, until midnight people will be very active.
